I've been so bad about tracking the source of a job for many many years.

As of Feb 28th..

50% of work comes from repeats
25% from mailers
10% referral
9% from a local service review company ( no cost to me )
5% internet searches.. Sucks ass!
1% YP ( just free listing )

Ok,, of new clients.

50% my mailer
10% internet
17% local review company
22% referrals
1% YP

I have yet to book a job via van seeing van.. Normally it happens weekly.. But it is not the season.. Beside at current gas prices I've pretty much had the roads to myself.

Will be interesting to see how these numbers change as March is often the turning open from the slow season to the steady season.

Becker, How do you choose who to send the mailers to? How often do you send out how many mailers? I have only sent out postcards to my valued customer base and tracked them as repeats.

This is my 2010 client source brakedown. I need to work on lowering my unidentified %. I did eliminate the Service Magic % after a very short time.

Repeat customer 75%
Website 7%
Unidentified 7%
Refered 6%
Service Magic 2%
Saw Norm's truck 1%
Angies List 1%
Yellow Pages 0%

someone is going to move this into the MMM room

Becker, the one thing I actually do is ask every single client how they heard about me.

But you're one up on me. You have that slick spreadsheet for tracking numbers. I liked that thing better than may quickbooks.

No.. No software..

Yes new prospects.. Not cheap... so I'm hoping as things dry out and warm up, internet will take over.

Some of my repeat work might have come from a post card I mailed early in the year...

But I count all repeat work as just that.. repeat..

the numbers that are most important to me is the new business sales..

25% from mailers is good isnt it? Are you mailing postcards or what?....if you dont mind.

Post cards work, but anything in an envelope works twice as better..

Next month I start my 5 around mailer.. Well honestly it will be more of a 10 around.

I do a job, then mail to all the neighbors.

Referall rewards program just now starting to pull results.

Does not hurt to be #1 on google in a few cities..

So you do no yp ads other than the free one....referals and mailers get you new work?....not counting your repeat. I would like to see your mailer or know the foundation of it. Ive done postcards and had maybe a 5% on a good day.....never tried envelope.
