Hello Everyone,
Since finding out that Chevy is running behind and it would take up to 8-10 weeks (if one is lucky) to get a Cutaway with a Spartan Box, I am considering a mid roof Ford Transit with a PC650.
Who has a Transit (Besides Mike)? How do you like it so far? Would you mind sharing your set ups?

I ordered one with the mid roof, extended body but it has yet to arrive.

If you get one I'd like to hear about it. I want to put together another Spartan and age out one of our Isuzu's.

I never asked. I'll send him an email tomorrow. Its been a month or so now. I'm sure it was a built not dealer trade, just so we could get the Blue we wanted. Saves on a paint job.

Love it so far. 5200 km on it.
Drives like a car. With the partition in its quiet, no odours and very minimal noise on the phone driving highway speeds.

No drill zone:
Prochem worked with ford and in that spot....drop the gas tank and install the bolts Up through the floor. Done.

I'm going rear mount though.

My main concern with the mid roof Transit would be that 650 would actually fit comfortably in that size vehicle. That's a huge unit and the last thing you want is for there to not be enough air flow to cool down the engine because the unit is so close to the roof. I'm not sure how tall the mid roof Transit is, but that would be my main concern.

The mid roof has 6 ft ceiling height which I think should be plenty of clearance. Im wondering how the 870 will fit in one.

Tim Baker drives these around the western United States and they have a 650hp and a legend in them. He says the gas milage is great and no problems going up or down hills.

When we were in Atlanta Thursday night Steve Poulos came a gave a dissertation to Mike, Scott & I. At some point in his hour long fillabuster he said he can get any vehicle and at great pricing. He said he owns one of the largest lease fleets in the country.

I kid about Steve, he did spend so time with us but it was very interesting and spanning a variety of subjects. Brilliant man! :icon_cool:

So I go test drive a mid roof Eco boost transit today and by golly I liked it! Then get back in the truck and get a text from my Chevy guy that they got a new Chevy Spartan box on the lot with almost my exact needs. Let the price war begin!

Awesome! :headbang:

I love the Spartans. I need to do a little horse trading but I'd like to setup a 3rd one thats 50/50 WDR and carpet cleaning.

They handle more like a van than a box.

Well my Chevy dealer mysteriously got in a 12 ft Spartan and I just decided to stay with that. Not the garage style side door that I like but it will work.

Well I tried something new for me on a hunch. Wasn't wanting to pay the high interest rates that the leasing companies charge (and I read a few years ago about someone else doing this) so I called the dealership back and ask them if they could arrange financing for the equipment package as well. He said "we've never done that but let me check into it". Got a call back today that they would and % rate was 4.99 BUT he said you can buy down the interest by 2 pts for $500 so I ended up with a 2.99% rate for the total package. So yes it can be done! So my equipment payment will be -$100 or so less for 6 month less term! I am a happy camper!
