Tried the Facebook post boost thing.

Last week during the blizzard I decided to try the Facebook advertising thing just to see if it worked since the whole world shuts down here in N.C. when it snows. Boosted an informative post about salt and ice melt and spent $50 total targeting select zip codes. So far booked $400 in work. Also picked up some new followers who will hopefully remember me in the future. Not bad return so far. Will probably get more calls now that the snow has melted. Thought I might boost one every week until March when the spring rush starts.

Keep in mind that Las Vegas has unlimited amount of customers. I'd like to see that happen over here with a very limited amount of customers way under 50k people in our market. Wait!!! I did it. And just for the record, Facebook users got burned out on my ads that I was running once/month. It started with a bang, and then, slowly but miserably died.

My point is, use it while it's booming, because if you have a very limited amount of facebook users in the diameter area you're marketing to like I do, it'll get old.

So the less people you have in an area, the more times the same people see it I guess?

I’m in a fairly large market targeting 2 small cities and the edge of a large city. I’ll give it a go and see what happens. I really don’t need any marketing these days but I thought I would kick it up a notch in these two slower months.

I think content has a lot more to do with it than who see's it. Its uninteresting and people become bored then it will not receive the engagement that you are seeking. If its something people like then they will engage with it. Photo's, video, helpful tips, a special, something compelling.

In my area FB doesn't work very well. Too many price shoppers and lower income. Or maybe thats just the demographic of FB users and cleaners are happy getting those kind of jobs, I don't know. Anyway, last week Mike was giving me a bad time about my van floor looking bad, so I shot a short video of myself cleaning it. I decided to boost that clip on my FB-Biz page and was surprised with the results. I booked 2 jobs and had a lice call. Sometimes the goofy stuff works. I really don't consider 2 jobs a success, but something different happened this time.

Boosted posts are okay but running actual ads gives you a lot more control.

Try this: Have a brand video made that is 30-45 seconds long that simply explains your services quickly and shows 2 maybe 3 testimonials. Run it to a very broad audience such as men and women 27 and older. You can spend as little as $1 a day doing this and just keep it running all the time so people see your brand over and over again throughout the year.

When you create this video it pays to have it professionally created as they can also insert captions if there is any voice over. A lot of people will watch a video without sound because of the auto play feature. If they don't see someone speaking in the background they'll never know the message you're trying to portray.

Then in 15-30 days you can create a custom audience and target people who have watched 3 seconds, 25, 50, 75, or 100% of the video. 50% seems to work pretty well which means they had some interest in what you were showing. You can send another ad to that audience whether it be another video, before and after, reviews, special offer, link to your website for a free online quote - whatever you want.

Video seems to get out to more people for less money and for those just starting out with not much cash it's the best bang for your buck to start branding in your service area.
