Im looking at these manifolds I just got and Im wondering If I should chop the upper part of the hose connection to open up the flow. The ID measures 1 and a 1/4 in. What is the a reason for the restriction?

Good engineering practice is "form follows function". That is where optimal function of the total device is reached first before "building the box" around it.
Port mfgs and some TM builders ignore this.

Yes, cut off the top restriction,
and use 2" hose.
Better would be eliminate the manifold, & use the new LX vacs with inlet tubes

Btw Larry .. what is the purpose for the restriction? Why not be made with 2'' to begin with?

We do not prefer to use manifolds in general with the LX vac motors.

That dosent answer my question. If you dont have the answer would you be able to point me in the right direction. Id like to know before I chop em.

My application has no room for LX motors.

If putting your vac motors in parallel, weld a box to the bottom of your waste tank, connected to 1, 2 inch stand pipe and bolt the vac motors directly to the box. With 2 vac motors, you will have 4 inches going into the manifold but only 2 coming out into the standpipe. Will increase lift slightly and drop your amperage. Anytime you use hoses to connect your vac motors, you lose some performance.
