VAN STOLEN!!! has this happened to you?

Van was stolen no broken window or anything just missing! Now we are trying to figure out how to get another truckmount and van in this market! The biggest thing is our insurance is trying not to cover more than 5k dollars worth of equipment. They explained that they have a maximum payout for the equipment and that's separate from the van. It was a chevy express with an Everest with around 1500 hours on it.

Also interesting is when I called a local supplier they said that I was the fourth one this week to call and tell them that their van was stolen! (CALIFORNIA)
Do you guys have any knowledge or experience you could share with me? HIDE your wife Hide your Kids they stealing everything around here!

I am in the Inland Empire (Riverside) area... Luckily I have 2 other vans so we are making it happen but the one that was stolen is our workhorse! That was our newest setup.

Generally you need inland marine policy to cover the cleaning unit. If you didn't have it on the TM then your insurance company is probably being generous paying the 5k

Parked in a building behind a camera laden fenced lot, so no thefts so far. Every time we sell a van we get at least one call from someone that had their van stolen though. All of them said they were waiting for insurance money, as the insurance company wanted to wait thirty to sixty days to see if it would be recovered.

My brother got a van back two weeks after it was taken. It had been used in a bunch of late night smash and grabs before becoming too damaged to use anymore. If you're lucky, you'll get the van back in few days just missing the contents.

We had a Butler stolen while we were cleaning a 3rd floor walk-up. They jumped in the drivers seat, threw it into gear and took off roaring down the road with the Butler still engaged! It ripped the pressure line apart at the fitting and popped the vac hose off the reel. The crew just thought the machine shut down and walked down to check it out.

We made out very well with the insurance company. The van was due to be sold later that year and we got more from the insurance company than we would have selling it.

We also had another OLD Butler parked out front of our building with a for sale sign on it. It was out there for a few weeks and then one day it wasn't. We weren't 100% sure what night it was actually taken. It was so long ago, I don't remember what happened with the insurance on that one.

I worked for a company that 2 stolen on the same night. One was doing the upper floor of a MacDonald's when the wand jerked out of his hand and went flying down the stairs. They go down to see the van taking off with the broken hoses dragging behind them. They call the nightshift boss to report what happened and he says I will have the other crew come pick you up. They're just down the street. He calls the other crew just in time to hear their van was just stolen. He thought they were playing a prank on him. Was a pair of drug addicts stole the first one which crapped out in a few blocks. Just happened to be another one going not far away so they jumped in and stole that too. That one caught fire and was a total loss.

That is a bad explanation. You can get an acv on your inland marine policy. If you have a 80k
truckmount, you can insure it for its actual cash value. I need to get back in the insurance business.

I understood it to be the complete opposite. Loose is covered under regular policy and inland covered machine. ???

Van/car theft is high near the border areas. You should have seen this coming since its a frequent occurrence in your area.

What I would do in the big cities where our this is happening, place a decent size of C4 under the driver's seat.
Using your phone and GPS wait until there out of range and blow it.
I think I saw that while watching Walker Texas Ranger.
