VCT VS Vinyl/Linoleum

Looked at a Vinyl for a gal. She has had it stripped and waxed before.

Do not have pics at the moment.

I believe it was sheet vinyl and not squares.

Is all vinyl have a pre-finish on it? And can you not strip and Re-Coat those that are pre-finished???

Instead of 3-4 coats like with the VCT, do u just single or double coat??? And use same type of wax or do u need a special wax for linoleum or pre-finished floors?? I guess I'm just wondering how wax sticks or soaks into regular Vinyl. I have only stripped and waxed VCT

She said it always shines when they are done. Didn't know if they just put a spray buff on or actually waxed.

Thanks!!

Excellent Question!

What machines, pads, chem choices would best serve this purpose?

its all about the same....but on vinyl it shines a bit quicker due to the fact that that its not as porous as vct....

also does it have continuous coving??? cuz then edges would be a biotch

Depends if you are talking newer armstrong sheet vinyl or some older type. The newer styles we have run into state no black/brown stripping pads, less abrasive like blue/green. They can be left alone or finish applied but we keep it light 1-2 layers of finish.

continuous coving is where the sheet vinyl extends a few inches up the wall

just don't be to agressive with th stripper

if the floor finish is real shiny or thick, beware of mop and glow type products
