Rug doctors chems are cri rated as well. Why versalclean is an awesome product. We are carpet cleaners know cri approved stuff really means nothing. And you guys know this.. so.. why get it tested and approved? Curious. Newbies?

marketing, its all about marketing. if you can get at turd CRI approved and put it in a nice pretty package you will sell a ton of it. oh a nice 30 min. infomercial would be nice too.

Sapphire gave away a bunch of Versaclean here over a year ago, a lot of guys loved it and still use it.

Its a decent liquid rinse with a polymer base that helps prevent re soiling.

I wonder if my spit could be considered for the cri program. the acid in my spit shouldn't cause any issues with the alkaline level of 10. So if my spit gets certified under cri guidelines would that qualify everyones spit?

How much does it cost to get a chemical or piece of equipment certified?

I know that prices will vary depending on what is being considered, so let just keep it to a simple equation like:

One gallon of HWE liquid cleaner.

Or..

A vacuum cleaner.

Or..

A portable.

Or..

A truck mount.

That shouldn't be too hard a question to answer.

While I'm at it, does it cost, and if so, how much per year to remain certified?

You know, like the OLD I.I.C.R.C. that I used to belong to as a Certified Firm.

Funny thing, all the courses I did from '94 onwards APART from the old I.I.C.R.C., I am still certified, just like a Uni; degree.

And NO Oscar Ash (CASH), has been paid to retain said certification.

I look forward to some manufacturers straight forward answers.

Richard if you can get your spit approved, I'd like to try it out on some heavily soiled carpet. If it works, I see no reason why we couldn't switch products.

I don't understand renewal, it's already been tested has it not? Or is it re-tested again? All this just to say CRI approved, just for a cleaner to say the other (non CRI) brand is cheaper. :icon_rolleyes:

I posted a great deal on this subject back in 2006 and 2007. I hated the program then, not because I didn't understand why the CRI wanted it, but because the testing left a lot to be desired, and at least to me it seemed like the tests were designed to work with the existing testing equipment, and not for the sake of finding "real world results".

The carpet people have a big problem: Commercial carpets are cleaned with crappy equipment and crappier chemicals in many cases, and it (seemed like) would make sense to get some control over what was put on their carpet.

BUT they need to quit making THEIR problem OUR problem with testing protocols that equate a Rug Doctor with a truck mount.

They are taking another stab at this and making comments that would lead me to believe that they want to do better this time.

Of course "wanting" and "doing" are significantly different words in definition and in practice.

I think change for the better is possible if they can leave the politics out of it and embrace real world testing where we ALL know portables suck.

Seriously, testing needs to be comparable, we can't have the portable machine bias. No more allowing 11-attemps for the portable vs a TM that gets only 2-attempts. :eekk:

While I certainly agree it will take all 11-attempts to match the 2 of the TM it's not fair to call them equal. :neutral:

It's up to us to tell the manufacturers that we will not pay for this :bullshit:

, & use other products that work well.

If a manufacturer truly stands behind their product, they don't need some bottom feeder, (that's got morals lower than a court room lawyer), to tell us how good their product is.

Good product don't need some hip pocket nerve stealing, Shit On All, bit of paper, which ultimately costs the cleaner more money.

Stuff the thieving, extortionist bastards, refuse to purchase cri/soa products.

This is true, those costs have to passed on to us in the way of higher prices for a CRI logo and from us to our clients for the cost of more expensive chems and equipment. All in the name of trying to do the right thing and provide a high quality end product. :icon_cry:
