So I'm experimenting with making quick demo videos of my process and tools for client's. I really suck at this stuff. I'm a complete newb. Do you make videos? How do you get good footage with only 1 technician? What are good angles? How do you compose the footage so the process/tool in use looks impressive? What do you edit in? How do you select appropriate background music?

A note to all about this post....

I am in two minds about this posting. As many of you know I've recently made equipment acquisitions that do not necessarily sit will with all respondents. This makes for a bit of a strange situation. I think as a Mikey's Board member its important I be sensitive to the strong feelings of the group. We're buddies, we share and help out.

So I'm going to try to do just that.

But I'm not perfect. I'm small, I'm vulnerable to my market and competitors and thats why I'm always looking to be better and do better. This means when I see a way to improve and invest in it; I tend to go through all the usual stuff. And part of that is being excited about the new stuff you can do, or do better than you were. I'll keep a mature lid on it guys. But I'm just a dude at days end. I did seek authorisation before posting and shared reservations I had about timing. I was graciously given consent anyway. I think the group just wants to get on with productive chat.

Very honoured. Hope it shows.

Peace out - Everyone.

If you are talking about the Bonzer I have always thought it was a good tool for the portable market. The way it breaks down has got to be a big advantage when you are packing your equipment in a Taxi Van.

Weight and footprint are a factor to be sure.

Any ideas on how I sell my capability visually to me clients? @Mikey P is exactly right about it taking too long. Needs to happen in 3 seconds. Thats not a lot of time. Gotta get thinking about that.

Mikey makes good videos as does Mark S and Damon. My Daughter has a youtube channel that is pretty popular but it's for kids and pretty elaborate.
I think the video length would make an impact at 15 seconds total in length, edits in action movies are about 3 to 5 seconds each... but what do I know :-)

I gather it means just cutting to the action right away. The Splash screen needs be at the end. Clips starts rolling, BAM sight tube in your face, BAM strip in floor in your face.

Prep the carpet prior to starting the video. Zoom in tight show the carpet, then right to the sight tube as you extract and quickly back to the before and after difference.

Overlay transparently is your company logo/ phone number. Voice over with "When its got to be clean, its got to be Grant's Cleaning" 4-5 seconds tops.

Been having a deep meaningful marketing video chat with member @Rolland the Gunslinger . He has made this tailer style promo up in iMovie. Tells me it took him 15 minutes.
