Noble brings up a great subject worthy of its own thread.

Wda truckmount isnt an option, how are you cleaning staircases, especially trashed piles?

Not too many machines that fit the narrow tread..

Of corners..

Risers are a pain enough with a hand tool/ extractor, I cant imagine attempting to get super hero results with just a Padson/ car buffer or a 10" crb..

Our Cimex jobs still get HWE'd due to ease..

And our lack of tools and experience on the matter.

Who can clue me in?

Preferably with video..

I made a several coat racks Friday
(donation to a local church group fund raiser)

anyway, I decided to use paste wax finish on the "kickazz" one (made with a exhibition grade gum Cherry)

paste wax needs polished to "pop".
You can buff by hand, but it's labor intensive

thought about the Shake 'n shine machine or the rotary...but then had an epiphany ...the DA finish sander !!

grabbed a clean microfiber towel, stuck it on and BAM

We have a com job next week I'll be encRapping the halls...there's also steps...I'm bring my "hand held" OP (DA finish sander) and MC towels to give it a whirl

they are tricky for sure..

we pre spray them with releasit ds2 then hand scrub then follow that with a orek orbiter or the sapphire batters scrubber

we also use the makita with the hotrod handle but the handle is starting to act up at the joints after only 4 uses so its on the shelf till i look at it closer..
and at over 200.00 that sucks that its breaking already..

we do over 1200 steps a month at one of our accts..not fun at all

I've used a step son, and an orbiter.........both with cotton pads underneath, and even a drill brush which does great for aggitation.....Just is shitty for everything else. I have a few townhomes where I gotta do steps, and remarkably, they turn out great.

We use the Cyclo dual head it does a great job even on the bullnose BUT its still hard work. My guys would rather hwe, they say its faster & easier. So we only use it when there are only a set or two or we can't reach with tm.

I keep 25 ft of hose and a stair tool that I can hook up directly to my sd. Only time this gets whipped out is if urine is located or when a flush is needed. It is quicker, but not if I have to set it up just for the steps.

When I can't get it with my TM. I give them a name of a cleaner with a portable. That makes my life a lot easer, I don;t do every job that calls me.

probably what we'll end up doing.
I'll encRap the halls while they TM the steps
(lot of large wide steps)

I want to see how the DA will work though.
If good to go, it'll be useful the small min charge jobs I often sCampoo

Mike, I like to use the Cyclo / Mini HOS with small extension pole.
It saves my back, I clean the risers, bottom to top, then come back down cleaning the treds.
The short pole also fits inside the Stanley tool box along with spare brushes of different grades.

I prefer the Cyclo / Mini HOS over the Makita with pads to get the crap out.

When I feel that the stairs also need to be extracted, I use a 40" straight stair wand after agitating with the Cyclo.

I WILL NOT use an upholstery tool on stairs due to the tacks from smoothedge etc;

I have a small Oreck scrubber I'll bring to St Pete if someone wants to be in the VLM stair club. I need $$ for my own room so i don't get stuck sharing a room with Larree or VAWter!!!!
