Nice job!

Shit, for a second there I flashed back to the 70's. :winky:

over 100 year old building....

Actually, was a Bordello up here during early times...

Even on the front of the building it still has the "Red Light Socket"

The owner (now the son) told me he just took the outside bulb out of it this year....Bulb has not been red for many years....

This son also told me many stories about the place....Where Grandma's room used to be.... (which was just off to the left in the large living room :eekk:

20 steps to get to the top of the this place....

Those old nylon carpets always came out great...seems like they never wore out but as decorating ideas and colors changed they uglied out. Maybe Carpet Manufacturers should re-visit the way the older carpets were made.

There's no money in something that lasts that long.. Vinyl flooring and laminate are cheaper to produce and has a higher profit margin than carpet... With our society soo price conscious these days due to EVERT HING MADE IN CHINA, it won't sustain the cost to product lasting goods...

Refer to Shabbos post regrading the shearing and skinning the sheep analogy...

I still clean carpet my pops sold over 30 years ago.. Crazy how well it always cleans up and looks after..

I agree with you but a small point I was trying to make is very little of the old stuff survived...not because it wore out but because fashion and decor changed. People thought of it as ugly and dated so tore it out. So it did turn over and would turn over but yes...it would last longer than current carpets.

While I was cleaning it, I was thinking the same....ugly...but dang durable for the most part....

and I bet in another 10 years, it could possibly still be there even though the owner was talking about tearing it out in a year and putting in a laminate.....ugh! :dejection:

I hate laminate floors, not just losing carpet...just hate laminate.....

I believe it was Ed York who coined the phrase "Carpet doesn't wear out, it ugly out"..... Way back when...... It's true to an extent.... I've seen carpet fibers disintegrate from the vacuum and our tropical climate.... The wrong carpet was sold not rated for the intended in-use... The flooring contractor kept it hush hush and was only replacing the carpet if people complained about it and wouldn't go away.... Your talking 44 floors with 10 units per floor....

They got away with it, but in all honesty a class action law suit should have been filed.... This isn't the first time "they" used the wrong carpet for the rated in-use....
