I was researching PTO's, TM's and Vans and found after I buy a new machine for approx. 20-25k and a van for approx. 25-35k I spending 45-60k. Why not buy a Vortex new or used for 65-90k and spend the 1100-1300 a month for 7 years? What do you think? Now this is about 1.5-2 years out for me. If you can't make approx. 130k-180k with a Vortex you need some help. Now this is for a owner/operator with a little help sometimes? What do you think?

the Vortex doesn't make the man, the man makes the vortex.

I will do over $180K this year and it is humbling how much work and business building is involved. You don't just go buy a machine and start printing money.

For starters my first TM(2 years ago) was a Avenger 450 in a box truck that I bought for around $9,000 on ebay. My other van just put into action ost me $22,000 for the machine and 9,000 for the van. The machine I put in the box cost me $16,000 and I sold he old machine for $4,000. So 2 trucks and 2 machines $52,000 minus depriciation on the old machine much less than $50,000 for what I feel to be 2 great trucks and 2 pretty strong machines

Joe, what Equip. do you currently own?

In two years, do you hope to have the business to keep a second wand running?

Is a BIG truck reasonable to drive in yoru area, with your customers?

I'll say it again.

Unless you NEED to dual wand 75% of your jobs and you can't keep up, a Vortex is a waste of money.

If you want flash get a sprinter and a sweet slide in with lots of drawers and shelves.

I agree with Walt and Mike but I did exactually what you are talking about but I am a 2 person business

Steve, with all the gear that you carry I can't imagine you in anything else. Also, roll out in a V is going to be faster, especially if you are dualing everyday.

I've had a Vortex for about 3 years. It has been pretty trouble free and my regular mechanic does all of the maintenance. It has been one of my better business decisions. Although it only cost me 12,500, Less than a good van and truck mount on ebay. Look for an old Venturi unit with low hours, and miles.

I hope you don't think that cleaning the best will make you successful. It certainly helps to be above average, but there is little correllation between cleaning ability and success. Actually most of the guys who own multi truck companies can't clean worth a shit.

I wouldn't go that far, at least if you are a one man show. Multi truck operations or single truck cleaners that operate like a multi truck might find your words true. Exceptions do exist, but those who have not had experience with the correllation of which you speak may not believe it.
