Everyone says to buy a truckmount from your local distributor so you can get service. Agreed? So, this local distributor should be how close to me, miles wise, to be considered local? Thanks for your answers.

Depends how mechanical you are.
if you don't know one end of a screwdriver from another, you'll be best off if you have "someone" with in 50 miles that can work on it.

If you're able to change oil, belts, hoses, etc and change parts when they fail, (or have the time) a disty close by isn't as important

I mainly just need the parts to arrive the next day. Thats all that matters. My dist./manufacturer is a couple hrs. away.

My local distributor is about 2.5 hours away. Of course, that's Jon-Don in PA. There are a few that are closer but I like the guys in Langehorn, they always do right by me and that;s worth he extra time on the road.

David;

It depends on how complex the TM is.

If you can do normal maintenance like changing spark plugs and belts, then you can probably service some no-frill TMs yourself.

Look for a TM that you can understand the operation of.

Can you trace the flow of water from the inlet to the outlet?

Is the vacuum flow also apparent?

Do you have access to all sides of the engine?

It is a decision that you will have to make for yourself.

I purchased a truck mount system and had it ship to my town.

I saved thousand of dollars by buying out of state.

The system has worked great and have had very good performance.

Have had some warranty issues but the manufacture was understand

parts shipped next day, PAID for the labor :) 1-800 for tech service

Now I am learning to do the maintenance myself.
