I am being invited, along with other carpet cleaning professionals, to discuss waste water management issues with our municipal government. What are your biggest concerns about being able/not able to dump your waste water. What do you see in your own neighborhoods. What can the local government do to help. How bad is our waste water from a chemical viewpoint/lint viewpoint, etc.

Portable unfiltered down the toilet, TM filtered and dumped into a toilet or in some circumstances, filtered and pumped on the ground.

If they want it dumped someplace special then they have to have a dump site open for me, at all hours of the day and night. I will dump when I am done or full whether that is 2pm or 4:30am.
I haven't seen an rv dump in years. Seriously where do I dump my rv?

In SF there are clean out drains every 25 ft in most areas. These drains go to the treatment plant.
Ive dumped my water onto my plants and lawn before but I think it harms the plants-- They turn yellow.
After dumping on my lawn some rather stinky waste water from a urine soaked home--- a gopher poped up and put several holes in my lawn. I guess the water stunk up his "Home" and was trying to get fresh air.
The Lawn Died And My Tech Said We Should Bottle Up Our Waste Water And Sell It as a weed killer:eekk:

I think you'll see there is bigger concern with the solid material that doesn't break down. Like carpet fibers, that is if you are using responsible cleaning products and not harsh bathtubs chemistry.

Actually, many ingredients in our wastewater are helpful to plant growth:

Phosphates are a fertilizer.

Diluted Oxidizers aid the waste water stream and plants.

Surfactants help availability of the nutrients.

d'Limonene adds to the organic breakdown components.

LOL

"Nutrient pollution is one of America's most widespread, costly and challenging environmental problems, and is caused by excess nitrogen and phosphorus in the air and water. ... Too much nitrogen and phosphorus in the water causes algae to grow faster than ecosystems can handle.Mar 10, 2017

Just Google it.

It's been a problem here in Kansas for decades. Likely any Ag state.

Somebody called EPA???

I don't know what kind of weird plants you grow in Kansas . . .

but phosphates & potassium are two of the three main ingredients in fertilizers bought by the ton

by farmers all across the country.

It's those fruit derived solvents of yours that are going to set off another ice age.

You should have seen the look on @Derrick T. 's face when he sniffed your new spotter. I thought his brains were gonna oooze out his ears.

His deafness has increased his sense of smell....

It comes from the run off and chokes out all other life.

Come on Larry you know this stuff. It's been an issue for years.

Enough of your pseudoscience, organic doesn't mean good. Anthrax is a part of nature!

Every time it rains animal feces is washed into our water systems.

But that doesn't cause algae bloom lol.

Any suggestions on best practices? Such as all truck mounts should come with pre filters and pump out installed from factory. Effects on ground water from pumping out on lawns etc. The only reason governments target truck mounts is because we have recovery tanks. How are we (pollution wise) compared to the guy who washes his car on the street, with all the soap running down the storm drains. How about the powerwashing industry, who washes large amounts of oils and other debris directly into storm drains? Has their been any direct studies on the effect the carpet cleaning industry as a whole has on the environment, with actual lab testing?

It was pretty rough..... Made me sick to my stomach. I really do not like products with strong fragrances.. certainly not that fruit solvent.. I'll stick with TSW...

It's OK, d'Limonene went up another 15% since we bought it last.

So that would push it high enough that many cleaners will stop buying it period.

We have toned down the fragrance in our FruitSolv.
