Water softener

Anybody ever use a So Soft water softener? They claim to use electricity instead of salt. They sell on ebay.

I read a consumer report saying they were not very effective and not worth buying. I did a ton of research when I got mine and ended up getting a 16k grain manual one.

Hydramaster had something like that. Maybe it was magnetic? I don't know. What ever it was, it didn't work.
