Where's the best place to purchase one? I see them priced $300-$2000. Is anyone running other water purification or filtration systems?

For carpet cleaning alone, water softener will do the job just fine. DI and RO will be helpful to carpet cleaning but their main usefulness is on other cleaning such as windows.

The Hydro-Force line of water softeners has something for every situation and budget. Usually you will pay more for a larger water softener that can treat more water between recharges or for more automation in the process (which is not that complicated). Larger units take more space. That can be an issue for some folks. If you have on-board fresh water, you can put the softening unit in your shop or garage. a 32,000 grain unit (the two full sized HF softeners) will need a recharge about once a month for the average carpet cleaner. But it depends upon how much water runs through your system and how hard that water is.

I think a water softener is one of the best investments you can do for your carpet cleaning operation.

Softened city water from home. It recharges every few days so it's always consistent and I can monitor it by the way my shower feels every day.

Just checked my inline filter today and it was spotless. First time I looked at it in months.

Because I get all my water from home it's also tax deductible.

That's awesome! I never thought of the tax deduction!
