I left my cell phone at home this morning when I left to clean some carpet at an office. It wasn't because I forgot it. It was because I left it on a different table. I usually leave it on my desk, and when it wasn't there, I just took off, not thinking about it
When I got to my job, I realized that I left it at home, and thought, "I don't always need my phone". WRONG!
When I unlocked and opened the door, the alarm went off. They forgot that I was coming. So since I couldn't call anyone, I just sat there and waited for someone to come turn it off, or a cop to see that I wasn't there for any illegal reasons.
Surprising enough, nobody came, not even a police officer. So I cleaned the carpet while the alarm was screaming at me.
What are your imperfections of habit?
