I have atleast 12 domain names and was wondering with all the free websites out there through google and such would I do better having lets say 8 websites with all the pertinent info with a link to my main website. Personalize each one for some of the towns I do work in and forward the domain name to a google site which would also contain a link to my main site?

Why not just fwd all domains to your main site.
Or to a page within your main domain?

The idea Becker is to make each site with pictures of the community that has the name such as Scituate is known for the minot lighthouse so have a picture of the lighthouse and maybe a community page with pictures of some of the activities I have participated in the community. Also have a link on the site to the main website if they are requiring more information that I can not fit on those small sites
