What is better than a prochem quad wand?

My business is doing pretty well these days so I'm thinking about upgrading my wand.Currently I have a Prochem Quad with a glide(round holes), stainless jets and a soft valve. The wand has all kinds of dings in the tube but other than that I'm very happy with it.It just looks kind of ratty.I don't think it's possible to get dings out of a wand or is it?
I've looked at past topics about wands but there's so much conflicting information,I'm still confused.
Is titanium the way to go because it's light or is having a little weight better for creating more contact with the carpet/better vacuum?
I have developed "trigger finger" it used to be pretty bad a few months back but it's slowly going away.Maybe my wand technique is getting better...
I would like to stay with a 12" wand, because it seems that when doing residential jobs, that is the most practical size to get into tight spaces.I'm not doing many jobs where a wider wand would save time and effort. Not sure if I need more than 4 jets and currently my tube is 1.75" flaring out to 2" where it connects to the hose.
I said my business is doing better, but I'm not rolling in the dough. So I'm afraid the Prochem Titanium is out.I was trying to get info on the Greenhorn but the website is under construction. I'm hesitant about the Joe Bristor wands because of the many bad reviews. Cracking etc....PFM might only be a lateral move.Could you guys give me some recommendations for a wand that is enough of a step up from the Quad to justify the expense?
Thanks

I know the ti seems expensive, but it will literally be the last wand you buy, they last forever. Mines on its third cleaner(me) and still in great shape

Both the PC quad and Ti are "forever" wands
and two of the best made

demo some other wands before you plunk down any dough on them .
cause you have a top quality wand now

Yes, the Quad has been working very well for me.I wouldn't even think about changing if it didn't have so many dings in the tube.
I wonder if a mtals shop might have a tool to get those out?
Other than that, the TI? Ouch!!! But I understand that it's important not to skimp on the wand. It's just like my bass guitar, I didn't cheap out on that either.
Nobody mentioned the greenhorn yet and I can't even find any info on it anyway.....

I have two Prochem Titanium wands. One Greenbean wand. A Castex wand and a PMF 802. With the single exception of the Castex wand (it is a horrible wand), I like them all the same. They all suck and spray as advertised.

Personally, I wouldn't get all into the minute differences in wands.

This ain't rocket science and we aren't using surgical tools.

Roxsy, I would like to say those dents and dings were the result of hard work by the previous owner, but even after 3-4 years of using my greenhorn it still looks like new. Now our son Jay is back I think he might even polish it. His truck is kept emaculate, everything in its place.

Our Jay has changed,

all them dings and dents, he done em, Dennis Bruders used to send me new things to try just to see if they were jproof.

When I ask him about his meraculus change, asshole just laughs and says "It's mine now""

Thats alright I stiil love you.. Thanks for all you are doing for me and your mom now..

Hey John, yes I know, that wand has done some serious work in the past and continues to do so. I didn't realize you have a greenhorn wand now.
I've been trying to get info on it, but no luck so far. Nothing comes up when I do an internet search for it.Just some youtube clips and some treads in forums but no link to where I could buy it.Where can you get it and how is it different/better than the one I have?

nothing special about the GH
It was a "board de jour" wand ..and that's the only reason it's famous .
Other than that, it's just "another over priced wand" ..nothing special

It's not a Fendor or Rickenbacker
It's more like a $199 Ibanez

Roxey, check with Suppliers John Olson in Utah or Larry Cobbs in Texas. They can pretty much dial you into a wand that would fit your exact wants and needs. I believe John Had the last of the true Greenhorns.

As far as repairing your PC Quad Im not sure, I have repaired brass and copper with a fine white sand and a leather mallot. You know Tubas Trumpets Tromebones. Don't know if it will work on SS.

 Maybe I'll wait a little longer until a Prochem TI is more in reach for me. With my basses I don't cut corners and the wand is my second "AXE" and I suppose I shouldn't cheap out on that either. Actually coming to think about it,I've been making more money with the wand than with my bass and that would make the wand my first axe...How times have changed.

Jeff and I produced the Greenhorn wand. It's base was a CMP (US Made) 14" low profile wand with a 2" tube (there is also a 12" version with 4 jets). We manufactured a custom manifold and angle bracket for it, it had 5 stainless jets, checkvalves, a custom made teflon cored high flow solution line, Westpak feather touch valve, stainless QD (male or female, made to order), inline solution filter, extra thick grip, was hand polished and came with a glide. When we split up, Jeff took that part of the business (high performance products) and I retained the glides. We have a no compete. He can't make glides and I can't produce GH's or his hose connectors, etc. Jeff kind of let the business slide when he got a regular job at CMS and I don't think he's putting them out....at least not many. You would have to talk to him about that. Several distributors have made imitation GH's or "as close as they could get to a GH" to try to fill the demand.

That is why I didn't mention it. I believe Marty's GH is an original.

Take care,
Lisa

Thanks for that explanation, Lisa. Too bad you guys couldn't keep the wand business part together. So it looks like I may not be able to get a Greenhorn wand. It sounds like it was a nice piece of equipment.

Naw, the GH was a sweet wand. I still use one when I clean the home carpets, kept a 12" model to use with my hi-perf porty. Fully dressed with glide and all it was 2/3 the price of a stock ti wand. I sold my ti, but kept my GH.

Greenhorn is a good wand, but just like the Ti, it has overspray issues. Lisa, why is my *** 802 not overspraying but the GreenBean and Ti is?

I noticed today while using the 802 that it has a slight overspray problem on the left side, but the end of the glide sucks it up without letting it get into the carpet. The other wands let it fly to the outside and leaves a wet line.

And before you loozers tell me to adjust my jets and go down to an 80 degree outside jets, I have already done all of that. The both still overspray terribly. Yesterday, I was using the ti wand on a move out berber carpet and the wet lines looked so bad I had to do extra drying passes to get rid of them.

Note: I am windering if the reason the 802 sucks in the outside overspray is because it has one of those flat bottomed glides on it now, and the other two have rounded bottomed glides. May be the flat bottom glide is just low enough to capture the overspray?

So the final verdict is that the Prochem Titanium is the only wand worth upgrading to from my Quad? But there are overspray issues? How come there aren't more good wands on the market?
If the TI is it, I better start saving...

wands are such a personal thing, Roxy, there really is no "one" greatest wand .
If we weren't using a Ti wand, we'd be using cheap AW29 wands (same design as the PMF802, but lighter duty)
and I'd turn down the PSI to around 350 and out clean 93.72% of the board de jour wands

if at all possible, demo before you buy

OK, I got it,thanks.
Larry, you're talking about turning down to 350 psi, which is where I'm at for most jobs except for some olefin and some cat pee jobs where i don't want to get into the pad. My machine is certainly capable of higher pressure but I was under the impression that 350 to 400 psi is about where you would want to be.Is that not right?

The AW29 (and it's many clones) and the PMF802 are not the same design or performance. Of the AW29 and clones, I give the thumbs up to the PMF422 version with the CMP version coming in second place. The PMF802 is lower profile and more durable, but flow is not as good as for the PMF422, unless it's special ordered with a 2" tube. Due to the lower profile and straight downward pointing jets of the PMF802, it tends to push water and debris deeper into the carpet where recovery is more difficult. If you have one, use lower pressure.

Personally, I prefer wands with angle to the jets.

Take care,
Lisa

Thanks for that,Lisa. Specific Model Names and numbers, tech info (like what you mentioned about the pointing of the jets) and reasons why one performs differently than the other, those are all great helps for me to decide if it makes sense for me to upgrade from my Quad to something different.
From what I got so far I'm thinking i need to stay put until I have 1200.- to plunk down on a TI.

I have two widely Bo titanium rod. Wand of a mung bean. A Castex wand and PMF 802. Castex rod (the only exception of this is a terrible magic wand), I like them all. They all suck and spray as advertised. For me personally, I will not enter the wand nuances.
