Been cooling down from sometimes 240+ to 220. Takes alot longer to get down to 180.

Replaced an exhaust HX a few months back, so maybe I'm leavin her too hot.

Also usually leave her pressurized.

I have a fuel burner.... cool down it fairly quick.

we use the hot water we're bleeding off to fill sprayers, and/or emulsion tank, rinse off wands/tools etc.
we cool down to 120 or so

cripes, the stuff you guys have to deal with

Really. You turn off your direct drive machine and go to the next job.

I try to get it down below 180. I let the engine
Run for a few min while I roll up.

Always done it. The real question is why?

I guess the good thing about having a water bypass temp control is that I just push a little black button on my control panel and it exhaust all the water in the heat exchanger into my water box (it came hooked up to my waste tank). My HX fills with warm water and I head to the next job.

easier on the system .
shutting a machine down with super heated water creates pressure spikes in the HX/burner coils.

the HX is HOT, the 220 degree water left in the HX'r or buner coils is not moving.
It's getting HOTTER sitting there til the ex'r cools down enough on it's own

we also have less wand strainers to clean... much less often since we started cooling the sol temps down before shut down

it's the "right" thing to do, cause it's better for your plumbing system as whole.

Don't know about the direct drives, cause they can't make "real hot" water anyway with a liquid heat transfer HX'r..

180, we train the guys to disconnect the vac hose drop the engine speed down to just above idle and open the bypass valve. In the time it takes to wind up the hose your temp will drop, raise the engine speed and cup your hand over the vac inlet to clear the tube and shut her down. Usually you 180-160 or below.
