What do you do with a Butler when it's time for a new van? I have a nice 2000 Butler thats got all the extras that I currently use as a backup van. I would like to start using it more but the van is getting up there in miles. My local supplier said it would be really expensive and wouldnt be worth it to swap the Butler into a newer van. So what should I do?

Sell it. If in good condition you will have some bucks for a new one. They have good resale.

I wouldn't suggest doing what I'm am with a Butler unless you really understand the mechanics of machines. I'm planning on bulding a custom box truck and installing my butler in there as a slide in.

No problem to swap into a low mileage, like generation van with a 5.7L motor. I've got one setting here that I'm about to swap. I replace all the moving parts in the process, and sell them with a warranty.

Or if you're just going to use it, pull your shaft out, and have a new warranteed motor put in for about $4000.

Thx,
Dale

How many hours on the Butler? How many miles on the van?

This is the time when the van / Butler pays you back. Run the dang thang till it wont run no mo! Then fix the van and keep running it.

What was his quoted $$ for the swap? Local supplier is interested in the sale of a new truckmount, not your best interest.

Did a quote last week. Carpet salesman told Mrs. Finkelgroover her carpet was not cleanable. I proved him wrong.

If you can't sell her...RUN HER INTO THE GROUND.... :!:

You may be sUrPriseD..how long she will LAST... 8)

If the van is getting a little weak..Throw a can of RESTORE...in the oil "DOES WONDERS"

It works GREAT...in a PTO unit.. :!: The consistiant RPM's..are perfect for this product..

Chris is absolutely correct here. A 2000 Gm or Ford van can look as good as a brand new van; a customer would not know or care as long it had a nice paint job. Just keep everything in good repair and that Butler will perform as well as a new unit, other than the blower HX they use now. The small amount of money you could sell it for would only cover a few months of the $850 for 72 months payments a new Butler would cost you.
