"I really need you. My carpets are filthy!"

expect to find carpets in great shape with little to no soil

"It's not bad"

expect a salvage rag

"Fee-Fee only had one or two accidents"

expect a urine soaked cesspool

when they say,

"do you think it's bad?"

it really means,

"do you think I'm a terrible housekeeper?"

Whe you hear,

"It will only take you a minute"

means you better tell her how much it will cost to clean that pillow back sectional she's pointing to, cause she's hoping you'll clean it for cheap

She says,

" Fee-Fee won't bite"

means a little dog with a terrible disposition that will yap-yap-yap and drive you crazy the whole time you're there.

...............................................................................

Anymore that you can think of?

"I like to support the local bussinesses" means, I want cheap because we live in a podunk town and don't expect you to charge big city rates.

"While you're cleaning the carpet can you just go over that sofa and those dining room chairs real quick because they're not very dirty."

Means do them for FREE, but gets pissed off when you charge her for them.

I'm getting alot more of these type this year.

That is dead on. "the carpet is almost new" means 10-15 years old and never cleaned or cleaned one a few years ago

How about-
"Give me a good deal and do a good job and I can get you a lot of work."

"You just need to move the sofa/dresser?"

Means-
"I haven't moved them since the Eisenhower administration, and you you might find a dead cat under them"

"The rooms are gonna be be empty today because I'm getting a new sofa delivered tomorrow"

Means-
there's no sofa in the room. Everything else is still there.

"Do you think you could take a look at..."

Means-
"There's a big spot on the attic bedroom carpet, would you hit it for me when your done in the basement?"

"You might have to work around the painter is that okay?"

Means-
"You might have to work around the painter, the drywall guy, the electrician, the tile guy, the carpenter, my mother-in law, my kids, the dog groomer and the lawn guys, DEAL WITH IT!"

this was fun.

after a price quote,

"I'll have to ask my husband and get back to you"

means,

"I'm calling the coupon dude cause he's half your price for 4 rns and hall
AND will clean my pillow back sectional too for an additional $29.99"

"but the last cleaner did..."
means the last cleaner probably was new, moved something he shouldn't, or did more for nothing because he didn't realize what things cost

or
" but I had it done for this much last time"
or
"but I can get it for this much from blankCC"

MEans, she thinks all cleaners are the same, and she's just looking for the best price.
OR she's had the last guy, he didn't clean worth crap, she wants a better cleaner for the same price.

"please don't move that furniture, it has a weak leg"
What she really means is...
DON'T MOVE THE DAMN FURNITURE, ITS BUSTED!!

When they say "I'll have to talk to my husband" it means NO, you're too much.

But knowing that when they pull that line out of their hat how do you respond?

I usually stand my ground on price but call them the next day.
Or I will tell them my appointment book is filling up and better schedule sooner than later .

But knowing that when they pull that line out of their hat how do you respond?

I usually start by asking if they will be the decision maker in the process at the start, that way, when you encounter price resistance you can be sure they either wont bring the husband excuse up or I can remind them that "Oh i thought you were the decision maker in this process?"

Does that sound as pompous as I think it does? :?:

I've been booked by the wife, only to get a call later telling me that she just talked with her husband and he has just booked a cleaner, so they are cancelling "me"! Like do they not talk about this BEFORE they book someone??
Next time I've gotta find out who they canceled me for and whether it was price related.

She says- "My friend recommended you because you were cheap."

"Please do not use any chemicals or detergents because I am chemically sensitive"
