I am a bit obsessive, but that said. I pre vacuum all carpets first. Then HWE with dry strokes. ( real dry stokes forward and back in same path, not that saw tooth crap. ) When I complete the room I go back and dry stroke the entire room one last time to capture wicking moisture while looking for any issues.
I would hire you to clean my house... your poor customers if they ever go with someone else or you retire they will never be happy.

Now, since Im never without the glide, I cant tell how many dry strokes, but more than a couple as im cleaning. Then to go over the whole room after I finish with a single pattern to cover the open area. only takes a minute or two. Keep in mind, Im primarily residential, smaller areas to cover.

I guess with commercial there needs to be more of a pattern of how many dry strokes.

I knew that you would see the light...

I did groom and dry after that pic, didnt notice it with the eye. it was near my exit of the room and probably just the way the fibers are aligned at the time of the pic.

Don’t take umbrage at what I’m about to share Marty....I still belong to the Old Steam Religion...

....that said:

Wouldn’t it be interesting to measure the dirt and cleaning agent residue left by wet pass only cleaner who uses an extraction detergent versus a VLM cleaner using an encap product and “pad extraction”?
There would be soap residue and some level of soil left after each. I use an Axiom-free rinse for a final rinse and I like to think that I leave a minimum of residue. I always take customers to inspect the carpet in one of the rooms with a blower running. Every time I ask them to touch the fibers with the back of their hand, they grab it with their sticky fingers or oily palms anyway.
The point is that they feel the softness of the surface and there is no guessing game about the soap residue being left. On the other hand, the bull nose of the stairs is a real gem, when comes to leftovers of the soil. In cases of neglected maintenance, the soil is packed in the curvature, all the way to the backing. I use several light pre-sprays rather than one heavy one followed by mechanical agitation for effective soil suspension. Still, after numerous attempts to make the stairs look presentable, I find soiled water showing at the tip of the cuff when doing extra dry passes. So, I also fall into the category of cleaners whose best is often not enough.
So true, he also used to stay, “that ain’t clean water you’re leaving behind.” I still miss Jeff.

Best treatment for dirty bull nose after you performed your hwe, is to take an Oreck orbiter with a microfiber pad and let it swing back and forth along the bull nose a couple of times.

I'll do shark tooth if I don't like the customer, nor care if I ever see him again.
This is a passive-aggressive thing I do for some customers that lowball the estimate-I'll also fill up my fresh water tank at their house. 😱😈
I do multiple dry strokes and still leave teeth. Never had a single complaint. Is it that bad or are some of you just a little over the top.
Maybe I’ll change on Wednesday

Depends on how many dry strokes.. Maybe the Last dry stroke wasn't needed. either way- shark tooth proves the cleaning wasn't even/balanced for all the fibers.
yes- I'm OCD when cleaning.

Thanks, I use Oreck to scrub the stairs anyway and I carry a few bonnets and microfiber pad in the van. This way bull nose gets drier and cleaner.

Any and all water left behind is ‘dirty’ to some degree

Which begs the question that under light soil conditions, is low moisture cleaning a superior alternative?
