Just got back from retaking the WRT (Water Restoration Technician) class and they're now recommending full PPE including face mask and respirator for all categories of WDR. Do you water techs do that or is the IICRC just trying to cover its butt?

Really?

I doubt guys will wear it on "all" jobs.... except FLOOD MAN.

Now he will be head to toe PPE!

We have trouble enough getting them to where full PPE on cat 3 losses. It is tough to spend 6-8 hours head to toe in plastic breathing through a double stack full face.

I've spent a week doing mold work in full PPE and it's not glamorus, pull your glove off just to empty the sweat out of it.

That sounds like a mistake or they are NUTZ.

On one of my last WTR classes, PPE especially breathing devices were reccomended if I am not mistaken. Just don't show up to the door right away with it on. Inform the homeowner as a precausion for your guys, we have to do this until we can confirm our findings that things are safe for everyone. It's just a mandatory precausion, but everything should be ok.
