Who makes a quality carpet spotting kit?

Just got an email from JonDon regarding their Matrix spotting kit is on sale.

I used to have a CTI kit when I first started and used it a lot but I didn't like the soft case and I didn't seem to get much mileage from their tubes of pro solve gel or the other one.

Do you guys still find you have a need for a kit or do you feel that you only need a POG, PIG, or citrus gel solvent to get you through most spot and spill issues?

I do build my own with a bag from Ace Hardware or Home Depot. Will try to post a pic later.

But it has a delamoline (citrus spotter) red remover, oxidizer spotter, some furniture movers, extra furniture blocks, sticky tabs, gelzov, Graffiti Gone remover, acetone, gum getter... Just what comes to mind and the bag I am using (tool bag with a strap) has lasted about 8 years or more now

I'm with Mark on this....build your own with a nice Husky toolbar from Home Depot and use different brands of spotters, the ones you know work well.
Buy the spotters by the gallon if you can and refill your small bottles as needed. Pros Choice Power Gel is sold by the gallon and you can mix it in a spray bottle, it works great just like the tubes of Pro Solve but is way cheaper and last forever.

All that being said, I started out with the matrix kit and I could do no wrong.. Break down is still one of top spotters for paint, makeup and tar. I prefer the chemspec Liquagel to the Matrix citragel. Target is a very good acid side tannin spotter. Release never seem as useful in the kit, and CTI's products for red and oxi are better.

We build our own. Mostly Prochem spotters, the have some great ones.

The old interlink bag with the hard bottom was great... Makes perfect sense to stop making it...


Like others, I just went to menards/homedepot and got a large tool bag.

As the others have said, putting together your own bag with what works for you is the way to go. This is the bag that goes into the house with me. Spotters, furniture glides, block, tabs, towels, etc. Even with all that goes in the bag, there is room for a few corner guards right on top. Rarely do I have to get something out of the van.
