A Scrub Above recently made the jump to a portable. Erik Guhl PMed me and is looking at upgrading from a powerflite to a $2000 recoil. I told him there was no comparison to a positve displacement blower.

Alot of guys seem hesitant to make the jump but they always end up saying "wish I hadn't waited so long".

I understand being careful with one's money but this business is so cheap to get into compared to others. To me not having enough work is the biggest expense you can have.(losing money you could have made). My thought is buying a reasonably priced truckmount is not going to make anyone fail. If you fail you were going to fail anyways why not take your shot and get it over with?

Anybody else have any advice for the POG guys who are thinking of making the jump?

You can only suggest what you think will work better, then see if they will listen, but I will tell you there are somethings and some places where a portable comes in handy. Many years ago when I was just learning like Mikey P is now, I would use my portable in vacant apts to tint them through it,could not do that with my truck.

I agree with you. I used a porty for 6 weeks and I should have just bought a TM instead of the money on a porty, not to mention my back will forever have problems from pulling that pos up stairs.

Home Depot is about to lay-off another 5 thousand employees nation wide due to their slow sales and over staffing, maybe carpet cleaning may not be a bad business to be in.
Things aren't as bad as when jimmy carter was in office and we survived the peanut brain stupid ideas on how to screw up our country, hussein will be doing the same as the peanut farmer and we will survive that also, people will rather invest their money to maintain what they already own instead of wasting money on going down to the homies depot and buying new floor covering.
So stay working at the homie depot where you feel secure and the let the professionals do the carpet cleaning
