And we didn't even vacuum......

Dear Meg --

First, I wanted to tell you how wonderful it was to meet you in person!! You have been a delight to work with, and it was an unexpected treat to be able to meet you. Thank you so much for coming over and working with John and Brian -- it meant so much to us. And...what an awesome testament to the fortitude of your company - I.e., you pitching in to ensure that your commitments to your customers were fulfilled :-)

Secondly, I wanted you to know how thrilled we are with the carpets, and there isn't enough room on the "comments post card" to adequately express our appreciation. Honestly, our expectations were rather low; we had the carpet cleaned about 3 years ago, and it looked no different after the work was done. I blamed it on the fact that my carpet is light in color, and that the dirt, therefore, would never be able to be eliminated. So we were a bit hesitant about getting them cleaned again, as we assumed the result would be the same (through no fault of Burdick's) and that it would soon be time to replace it.

Well, what a surprise!!! Our carpet looks the way it did when we bought the house. Even the steps, which were filthy and worn, look almost brand new. Brian is the best stair cleaner in the world!! And the ottoman now looks like it did on the day it was delivered. (Again, we really thought we needed to replace it....we had 2 pups who loved rubbing up against it -- back and forth, back and forth.). Moreover, there is very little wicking, and virtually no rippling!! We couldn't be happier.

And when we removed all the stickies and styrofoam yesterday, we realized how attentive you were to everything, and how careful you were in ensuring that nothing got damaged. How can I ever sufficiently thank you for such a phenomenal job?? Your company is absolutely "the best". I have never before been so happy with any contractor that I've hired. Not only is your work exceptional, but all of you are such kind, caring and friendly people.

Also, I wanted to thank you again for the cleaning of our tile/grout. We simply can't believe it - our floors look brand new! And when I called the following day with all of my questions, you were so helpful in explaining things to me. Moreover, when John called to discuss my questions/concerns, I was in shock....I never before was contacted by an owner of a company AFTER the job was done. Burdick's Cleaning is truly one-of-a-kind; I love the way in which John educated us throughout the process - from giving us the initial estimate all the way through to completion of the job and thereafter.

So, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We feel like we moved into a brand new home!!! And best wishes to you and your family for a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!!

Fondly,

Kelly Xxxxxx

P.S. I will be sending in the postcard with my comments.

There is very little wicking? After all that nice... is this a call back? Wonder if there would have been any wicking if pre-vacuumed... Very nice Customer for sure.

I know I have mentioned this before, but the above statements have a lot to do with how happy the customer was. I read, and don't doubt, that the carpet came cleaner than it did when the last guy cleaned it. But what makes for loyal customers is how they are made to feel. The amount of personal attention that she received, especially after the job was done, was the kind of thing that is very rare today in any service business.

Don't get me wrong: If the job was badly done, the carpet stank, etc...no amount of caring or charm would have made up for it. But the perception of "clean" rapidly fades after a few weeks, even days. But the feeling of being made to feel cared about by the company...no, let me rephrase...by the people in the company...is what is priceless.

Most of you that I know well here do the very same thing with your customers, by the way, from what I know of you. Never forget that that is the reason you retain customers, and not necessarily what you use for prespray.

Congratulation what a fine testimony for and about you guys. Read your stories on SFS very nice. Obviously it is all the little things you guys are doing (besides pre-vacuuming) that are separating you from your competition. I personally feel that for some of my customers (especially the high end ones)I would be insulting them if I Pre-vacuumed unless I could see solid particles. I felt I would insult a customer if they had just vacuumed using a Kirby, if they used something else then I would vacuum with a Kirby especially the edges. If I feel that I need to vacuum and they say they had just done it I tell them "I do it so that I will notice any areas of concern before I put down the pre-conditioner"
Again congratulations keep up the good work

Kind of like sticking your finger in a sore or pulling off a scab. You just had to get them wound up again.

I have some people who don't want us to vacuum or prefer that we use thier vacuum. It's rare they're usually the type who consider transference.

You sure discuss wicking a lot with your customers.

You can stop that now that you got a Shark

Use it on the horizontal portions of uph.

Or go up a notch in geekdom...

My wife has been going with me these last few weeks due to my neck....This Thanksgiving she had several customers send her text messages wishing her and her family a happy TG, and more than just your normal hey happy TG, some really nice compliments....Really hit my wife in the heart and made her day even better.
It is a awesome feeling when you realize that you have made a true connection with your customers

What a phenomenal letter. It's a shame that some people feel so driven to look for something to make negative comments about. Nothing but sheer jealousy.

Well done, Meg & John.

Funny thing about this is....they didn't even know I was there till the end. I had to get the kids on th bus and then meet the guys. The homeowners were hanging in the basement until we called them up.

We had many phone calls and emails back and forth tho. She had a ton of questions and needed some serious hand holding. This was our second service call with them this month. We did the tile and grout/upholstery the first time and then the whole house of carpet this trip.

Truly a lovely couple tho. We are fortunate that many of our clients are equally as wonderful. We get lots of positive feedback, but never one so detailed ad this. We are very blessed!
