But you do need some training.

So what's stopping you from offering this service to your clients?

Is it your lack of knowledge?

Are you intimidated by hearing of area rug cleaning disasters other cleaners have experienced?

Do you figure you need to spend a fortune on fancy whirling machines?

Tomorrow night in the Cleaners Classroom Aaron Groseclose the president of MasterBlend will be offering a talk and a question and answer session aimed at those who are contemplating washing area rugs and to those that might want to step up their rug work to a higher level.

He will discuss what you need to know, what you need for basic supplies and equipment. He will offer a road map on how to build your service in this area in a practical and affordable way.

Also he will answer some of your rug questions and of course you can also ask him about other Masterblend products.

Come join the discussion or just listen in at 9PM Eastern Time or 6 PM Pacific Time.

Just click on this link.

Greg, your point is noted and well taken. Some speakers can get a little more product review going than how to going... if you know what I mean.

It depends if you ask the questions about specifics and most of these guys will love to help you.

Aaron is planing on delivering useful information about dealing with rug problems AND he is definitely talking about rug equipment.

These guys have to talk about their products too but the deal is when we bring them on is that they deliver useful information.

Greg, I was told what the topic was and both times when Craig spoke he brought up a lot of other stuff too. I think I need to get a clearer understanding from our side.

Again, your point is well taken and I agree. We expect a lot more "info" part of the "mercial".....

Bob I appreciate that you are paying attention but the above statement makes no sense, if you are presenting a class you lead the direction. You can not assume people have the knowledge to ask the appropriate questions. There has been a lot of developments in odor control since I took the class and was very interested in adding a service I currently do not provide and felt like I wasted my time. I am not upset about it and just wanted to point it out. also wanted to say I felt duped into sales presentation when it was a subject I really wanted new relevant information and since I felt duped I refused any free product.

I noticed and error on the presentation time from my first post and corrected it.

The correct time is 9PM Eastern Time or 6 PM Pacific Time.

its Craig Jasper for gawds sake, wth were you expecting other than a complete and total sales pitch?

I remember wasting a day at one of his cleaning institute infomercials

there were 9 guys there

Craig says " now this is why I hold these classes in out of the way locations , so I can get up close and personal with the cleaners"

It was in a real 'remote' place .... Providence Rhode Island

The kicker was the "free lunch" of sandwich and chips

ALl you had to do to get the food was to listen to some AIr purifier sales buffoon pitch a multi level marketing scheme to sell ozone purifiers in the home

Jasper...... ROTFLMAO

I just realized I took a seminar with him..Double your profits and it was a whole day sales pitch... Same air purifier guy who was just rolling through and just wanted to meet some guys in the field. He was taking a short 3 day vacation then going back to his hhuge business but since he was in town wanted to help people out in our area because it didn't overlap with his

Greg, what I mean is that the classes have the opportunity to get more interactive with you guys asking your questions. These presenters do have an agenda to teach and bring out their product awareness. We expect that they "tell how" to be a much stronger message than "what with". And that they answer your questions as appropriate. We also feel that if you guys ask a question about a product that was not part of the presentation that it is in everyone's interest that the presenter answer the questions.

I will be speaking to Craig about being more centered on the pre-arranged topics. And for the record, CTI gave me the topic to be discussed and I thought the night would be mostly about that.

Now Aaron, the president of MasterBlend is a good instructor (so is Craig). I am going to be speaking to him tonight and will stress that he try and impart lots of practical information with less "pitch". I have a feeling this will be unnecessary though as I know from Aaron past work that he tends to be that way anyway. I personally have taken a rug course from Aaron and he's very good.

We give presenters the leeway to talk about other topics and interestingly Aaron said he would like to talk about his new deodorization product and technique that involves an encapsulation process.

Please keep your comments coming so we can improve these sessions for everyone.

Aaron is very helpful and knows a lot. He is also honest and straight forward.

And Master Blend has an exceptional line of products.

P.S. Bob, you don't have to speak Farsi to clean them rugs.
But is it true that if you do, you can charge a lot more for cleaning them :p ??

Any Wednesday Farsi classes coming soon? And will they be ayatollah approved?

We regularly schedule industry types to do presentation for the trade association. The rule is to mention the company you work for, do a non-product specific talk, defer answering any product-specific questions until the presentation is over. Some guys agree and then do a pitch without realizing that attendees get angry about this and they're actually losing sales. We don't ask the guys that are already notorious for being self-serving, and won't ever use a presenter again if they pitch product or their own courses, but can't know in advance how they'll act.

If the presenter has been told it's OK to push product in return for their presentation, then the audience will have to learn to accept that or pass on future webinars. If the presenter is just "working in a few" don't blame MB for that. The presenters may have decided that if they can get away with it at Connections, people will put up with it everywhere.

By the way, Mark Cermak's webinar was 100% excellent.

Very good guidance Bryan. I think I will use that concept in emails I send to presenters. By the way, other than a paricular Teflon scoundrel almost anyone is welcome to have a go at the Wednesday night classroom.

Its generally an education night but we can make exceptions for people that we would like to have an open debate or a closer look at. I recently asked John Labarbera to come on to tell us his story about how he got started in the business and the road to where he is now. He modestly suggested there were more interesting people than himself to be in the classroom. I'm working on him.
