Great State? Too much Koolaid for you!

No, Texas is actually pretty fooked up, as far as states go. They all seem nuts! Now, I am a fan of Mr Cobb. I like that he's on "the board" and I appreciate his "my shats the best" attitude. Everyone should feel that way.

So you want Saturday and Sunday service? Do you also provide the same for your clients?

Unfortunately, occasionally(Sat/Sun)...

I like delivery's any day!

I have some cousins that would like a Sunday 7:15 am appointment. I told them you would finish in time for them to go to church.

They will pray for you...for lying. :winky:

Like it or not...Cobb's attitude is actually more on par with how most carpet cleaners treat their own customers...and it makes it laughable how some of the other overly emotional distributors act. I think at some point people just get tired of the sob story: "you need to buy from me...it's so hard in this business...when your truckmount goes down don't expect me to service it right away if you don't normally buy from me...etc etc."

All of you are just speculating about why Ray chose to close.
I am sure that there's a lot more to it than internet competition.

I buy from my local guy (which was Ray) and service my van with my local guy (which was Ray) seldom buy on the internet and disagree with Zee.

My comment was not about Ray.

Ray treated me with courtesy and I have respect towards him. I wasn't speculating about his business.... But our resident emotional distributors.

I was referring to supporting local distributors, Zee.
Anybody that has an actual location & provides service and products on display and other valuable services, is at a disadvantage when competing on price alone with warehouses.

I will buy from the warehouse guys if I have no choice or if they provide a unique product not available elsewhere. Otherwise I'll pay more to my local disty, as I want them to stay in business and am willing to pay for it.
I totally agree with distributors that will provide better service to their local and loyal clients. They should.

Should they?

Shouldn't they treat all paying customers the same, without the guilt trip?

Don't we try to treat our customers equally? I try to.... I don't tell them that "hey you don't call me every six months so you gotta wait in line while I take care of better customers".

I know we all have preferred customers... But I don't believe we put the guilt trip on the lesser customers when they actually call.

We do the same. Not only do we buy from them but I see their point too.

Don't expect premium service from them if you don't support them with your chemical purchases.

We do they same for our clients. We will jump through hoops for those big accounts that support us regularly. The others still get great service from us but on our terms, not theirs.

I Meet with Ray today. He Looks great!-- even younger..
his future will be awesome and I'm very happy for him. He is very wise to get out now and the "universe" is sending him good fortune.

Some of his suppliers were treating him like the "red headed Step child" and abusing him while worshiping his competition.
This may have seemed like bad news at the time-- But I think It was a blessing in disguise for him.--

I'd imagine most clients don't give a poop where we get our products.

Distys closed on the weekend? Amazon's not, and they deliver on Saturdays and Sundays. You need a specially type product, quick. You should try it. Try it, a lot!!! It's also a great stock to own.

Most distys in my area wouldn't wouldn't know/remember us if we went back a week after buying a new tm. The salesperson might if it's a slow week... Other than that, doubtful.

Me buying products from the great state of Texas isn't hurting anyone.
I hear you loud a clear and understand. I don't have a local supplier to purchase from , the closest that I have found is Interlink / Aramsco in Detroit (2 hour drive) , So I order from Larry , John and others as well. But back in the day when we had a local supplier I purchased everything from him. I miss those days of being able to go in to a store front and touch something before I purchased it.

Ray had a well run, profitable business. Most of us plan on retiring some day as did Ray. The timing is right and he has chosen
to do it now.
Nuff said.
Best of luck to Ray. He's been great for our industry.

Not just products, even advice with tm issues is hard to get now.

mouth never stops long enough to build up any pressure, eh??:biggrin:

.L.T.A.
That's NOT true. Some people just run at the mouth. You tell them to shut up but nooo the just keep going on and on with no awareness that their continued speech is annoying. They don't understand that they are annoying with their continued diatribe.

I am not that kind of person, I am totally aware of my surroundings, one with nature if you will. I Don't just run on at the mouth about senseless topics. No I only speak of important, meaningful issues of the day. You know the kind of issues that need to be spoken about and pondered.

When I am told to shut up I shut up. I Don't continue to go on with meaningless dribble. No not me. No sir I can stop. I don't have to keep going...or do I? :winky:

I'm sure Ray was a great distributor, the small distributors are going to have a rough time with all the consolidation in the manufacturing and chemical aspects of this business. They sell a small fraction of the equipment and chemical so they carry no clout and get no consideration for getting their customers problems taken care of.

One of these days the country will wake up and find that amazon did our country a real disservice. Pretty hard to compete with a huge online seller that has NEVER made money. They have made money for a quarter here or there but never had a profit on an annual basis. They aren't trying to make money, how can a legitimate business compete with a "pump & dump" that is all about stock price (which is way, way OVERVALUED). Jeff Bezos sells around a billion dollars in stock annually. He is personally cashing in huge on stock speculation. It's a pump & dump and the small operator is his victim.

One day we will regret the destruction of local retail and all the lost jobs. A crash is coming guys. When people talk about how great the market is doing I have to laugh as 99% of the American public fail to realize that the Dow Jones Industrial Average is based on only 30 publicly head companies. Many of them are NOT making money and the volume of trading is worthless as barometer for how the national economy is doing. All these restaurants, retail shops, supplier in our industry closing up is a much better focus point.

Save your money guys, pay down debt and be ready for the panic that a huge correction will bring. It's going to be worse than the 2008 crash and last much longer. Our economy is a house of cards that had a Marxist puppeteer for 8 years. The average american consumer, the moppets.
