I'm not familiar with something I've run into a few times and I'd appreciate some help. Some rugs have a fiber, used in a pattern, that looks and feels coarse like it was painted with white latex semi-gloss.

We cleaned one a few days ago and the lady is saying it wasn't like that before we did it. Funny cause it was.

Forgive my ignorance.

Pics tomorrow.

I didn't clean it but did see it in the shop. My guy said it was 80% wool and 20% ?? missing tag. It was a simple cleaning, we caused no change, it came in that way.

I have seen it before but not often. Looks like glue/paint covered fibers in a patten, thin curves.

Did no testing but will.

Improper cleaning of silk, rayon or cotton can leave it stiff. Mixing in a hard to work with fiber in a previously simple to clean rug is becoming fairly common.

A rule to live by is: If you didn't notice it and pre-qualify it, you did it.

Sounds like Cottom/Silk highlites apply more glue and paint. shiteatinggrin If not you might just brush the stiff area's if you're lucky you won't have to re-wet set nap dry and brush or vacuum.
