I'm sorry, but I really don't care. I don't mean that in a mean way. I just don't care. Associations have nothing to offer me that I can't get here, and I really don't see any need the industry has that is large enough, and commonly felt among the rank and file cleaners that would cause us to coalesce into a functioning entity devoid of the selfishness and greediness that always occurs. Letit go. Let it die. Please.

But Marty

There's 264 cleaners across the country who have not found the internet yet. Whatever will they do with out someone to tell them how to remove lipstick stains from a lazy boy?

(actually there's 19,453 clueless cleaners left, but only 264 of them can read. of those 264 only 32 ever get online, 3 for something other than porn but those 3 will find rob soon enough.)

Mikey,
those three were in my last class and couldn't figure out how to fill out a scantron sheet and circled all the answers in the exam booklet. That was after watching a 60 slide presentation on how to fill out a scantron sheet. I wish I was kidding. Actually only 1 did that as the other guy circled all of the little circles he was supposed to fill in.

Its a great idea and I applaud you for the effort and concern about the future of the industry. However Facebook and Bulletin Boards can never take the place of associations. They are excellent platforms for the exchange of information, pop in and out with a notification. They work great for keeping in tough with the fast moving information age.

Its fast and easy to get involved but to get those participating to act as an association is asking more from them than most of the membership cares to be involved with. I don't see it ever happening.

While I don't believe Associations are dead, but the way they operate now must change in order for them to survive and thrive. They must be more responsive in real time not the way of pony express. We as cleaners have operate our business with email, texting and online scheduling why should we expect less from an association. We shouldn't.

Dead no, the need for them to elevate their game? Certainly.

The IICRC certifying body...it can't be replaced. Improved, yes. They are working on it. I wish they moved faster but progress at this level takes time.

I hear everyone whining about how much they pay and how little they get. Ok, how much do you pay? $50.00 - $65.00 for testing? $100.00 to be a certified firm? How far do expect that to go? What kind of marketing can you get for that?

We are expecting too much if you expect them as a certify body to market for you. That's not who they are or what they do.
They are NOT an association, they certify classes and testing.

Facebook or MB will not replace these entities.

IICRC is actually needed more then ever in the intronet age.
Somebody has to be coming up with standards and verifying instruction material/instructor competence.

Kinda like newspapers have editors who fact check sources/stories. Well blogs dont so people read all kinds of bs information on the internet without realizing its all made up.

How much of that generated fee income is being wasted on these upcoming shows?

I'm not sure, they are two different entities.

One the certifying body that collects those fees the other is an upstart association. So did one fund the other?

That is way above my pay grade. I couldn't answer that.

Define wasted? What about all the people that claim they get nothing for from associations? Here is training and a trade show. Hardly wasted, except maybe on those that like to complain but wouldn't be involved anyway. (Porkchop)

Wasted as in better spent on more pressing issues.

Like someone to answer the phone.

Or creating a real value in being a member.

I agree. I'd like my tests to be graded faster.

I'd also like to get 100% all the time too but I guess that ain't happening either.

Was that really true about no one answering the phone? How is that possible? :confusedd:

Tony knows the value of this board better than anyone, right?
Why has there been no communication between he and and I about using this platform to intice those 264 dudes into the new age?

Is the IICRC being ran like Bane?

I'm talking about promoting online education (such as MB) to it's members.

Are they afraid that most will soon feel the same way as Marty and find them unneeded?

Tony and OZ will say they don't want to push people HERE because of Cooper.
But how long has Tony been involved now? a lot longer than since last September.

The IICRC was offered a complete sub-forum here for which to do what ever they pleased. Are they somehow above us all?

I think not.

No I'm not (totally) serious..

But I would feel a bit more comforted if our industry had at least one representative under the age of 70..

and had an nose ring or at least a neck tattoo.

lets get back on track here.

Would the iicrcA have been invented if not for the Connections fiasco?

was the need for the profit generated from trade shows great enough to create this whole distraction?

Correct me if I'm wrong (I never am) but I recall it being a part of the master plan Tony envisioned. I thought it was a way to answer those that always claimed the IICRC did nothing for them. The association would be able to actually do "something for them".
