Ladies grandchild pulled this thread. She was looking at a tad over $5000 to replace.

$400 produced this, a grateful client and a bottle of wine

I think you may be a shady character, I see some grey areas in your superb work.

Mongrel.

Ooroo,

PS ::: After posting the above, I did some figures & came to the conclusion that NZ$400.00 is a bit on the cheap side.

I worked out at about AU$500.00, but you would be quicker than me re-tufting.

But I still would have looked at at least NZ$500.00 + a couple of GOOD reds.

Then again, I'm not a kind hearted, good christian (can I say that here?) boy.

Bugger.

Sorry if it’s a dumb question but,

What exactly did you do to prepare the yarn?

No such thing as a dumb question Mike, we're all here to learn.

The off cut of carpet was coureired to me. I pulled off 1 of each rows and then I sit it in a adhesive and Lacquer Remover solution over night to dissolve the latex off it.

The next morning, I wash the yarn in a woolsafe approved detergent and rinse 3-4 times to completely remove the NVDS and then wash it again in a acid rinse and again rinse 3-4 times in water.

I then lay it out to dry on the dashboard of my vehicle.

Doesn't take long, but sounds like a something that helps justify the cost.

Shorty, I charge $1/km and $160 Min. I think google calculated it at 250 km when I quoted this job so my quote was for $410+GST

The job onsite took me 20 minutes including chit chat, meet and greet etc.

Total job time including travel netted $100/hr +GST

Woah back up there baby - are you saying you did a graft with the row still stuck to the primary (with the soak to remove the secondary properly) or is this one of those guru type "re weave the carpet with a strand of wool" jobbies?? From your post I'd say the latter but just want to understand it properly.

ps Long time no hear mate- hope all is well in that WET place :)

Yeah Heath, too long aye!! Have to have a catch up some time.

We've been so busy there's lots of people accusing me of ignoring them

This job was a retuft (US reburling) where I remove a section of yarn, prepared it and re tufted it in using needles.
