Not sure but I've noticed that some backings stretch as I'm wanding. I've also noticed that if I stop somewhere it will leave a small hump so when I see this happening I know I must wand evenly over the whole carpet pulling that hump all the way to the edge of the carpet.

Just what it looks like to me.

In other words the humps are where you stopped and didn't go back to overlap by about half a foot.

To fix it get things hot and get the wand locked down and pull it to the edge in one pass.

Mike, did you use a Lift Buddy on the entertainment center, to relieve the strain it puts on the carpet? Pick it up, then sort of scootch the lump around evenly.

It cold have come from that piece of furniture, being pushed back in forth trying to get it in just the right spot by the house wife, super heavy and making several push with legs adjustments might have damaged the backing

If you feel a lump it's probably the pad that got bunched up from the stand being moved but if there is an air pocket it could be like I said.

Do you remember locking down with the wand in that area and stopping and restarting several times in that area?

Looks like delamination. Couldn't have come from cleaning.

Are you certain it wasn't like that prior to cleaning?

Stretching would help but they could have damaged the backing in the move.

I agree with that. I have repaired minor delaminations in the past by injecting latex from the face into the backings with a large syringe, then laying a heavy object on overnight. You need to get the piece to lay as flat as possible first. Lay a piece of wax paper on top below whatever weight you use.

How can you tell if it's delaminated without cutting into it?

You could try and lift up the carpet by the fibers. Does it pull up higher in that area vs other areas of the room?

That looks like a heavy piece. Dragging that bad boy could easily have caused the separation.

If you wanted to repair it I suppose you could drag it to the other side of the room. Disengage the install, cut the secondary backing and use seam sealer. The reinstall.

Then do the same to the other side where you dragged the piece to. :winky:

If it was flat when you started it will flatten out on its own.

If it's delaminated it would have moved around immediately when you cleaned it.

It will go away on its own.

I agree with Lee on this.

Also Samlam.

I also have had carpet look great when I've finished, only to be contacted a few hours later with complaints the same as yours Mikey.

After ALL of the fibers have completely dried, the carpet evened itself out again.

If you did not move the cabinet, I doubt there is no way that you could have damaged the carpet to that extent.
