the cord and plug are too small for the amps your tying to draw

get a nice 10 guage cord with a plug

There's a loose connection where the wires go to the prongs. This causes a poor connection and overheating or even arcing. If there are screws in the plug so you can open it up, you might be able to tighten the wires back up, but I'd just go to a hardware store and get a heavy-duty replacement plug and replace the stock one.

what Ozzie said

cut the old plug off and install a new one
Make sure it's rated for 20 amp use

Buy it at an electrical contractor supplier...it will likely be le$$ than buying at HD or Lowes

Thanks .. I thought about converting to 10ga cords just to maximize the draw .. pretty powerful machine .. but too damn heavy and awkward to lift .. thanks again

What are you saving by not going to Lowes or HD?

A quarter?
