Yes you can trust them Chris, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

You are without doubt among the wisest among us. So I will ask you a very simple, not at all flippant question...

Why.... should we trust them.....?

I'll allow Tony or Brian to answer your question Grant. My relationship with the IICRC changed a few years back and I don't have the specifics that they do.

My endorsement was of the men involved. Their integrity is beyond question to me.

Grant you trust them because these are good men without a self serving agenda.

What's in it for you?

I get to work with Bryan on a committee. Confidentiality prevents me from telling details. Bryan does not speak up as much as I do, but I have learned to listen to what he says. He thinks something over and his comments get right to the heart of things. I would support any cleaning related project that Bryan was behind.

Congratulation to Bryan.
A great choice for the IICRC.

Grant, Chris, etc. actions speak better than words. Just look at how many people Bryan has helped on this board alone. He gives his time and valuable advise with grace and generosity.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

The Board of Directors of the IICRCA is a pretty impressive group so if anything worthwhile gets done I'll have played a minor role.

I didn't campaign for the position, it was unexpected, and I voted for someone else. After the election I spent the rest of the day trying to figure a way out, but finally decided that if the Board does the real work and all I have to do is look pretty, it might work out OK.

Grant, you have asked to unrelated questions.
Trust is earned and usually as a result of personal knowledge of an individual's actions rather than their words.

To paraphrase a famous American -
"My fellow Carpet cleaners, ask not what your industry can do for you, ask what you can do for your industry."

If everyone's sole motivation is WIIFM then you'll likely get something like the Cubans got in 1959.
The only reason why this Forum works is that there are givers AND takers....... get my drift ?

Even Premium pigs produce typos - umm his name is Bryan not Brian and it's all that pulled pork that I enjoyed today in Louisville what made drowsy.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

Many thanks to you.

So glad to see that Toni didn't, as of yet, lose his spunk.

Toni, was that quote from John F. before or after he shagged Marilyn?

What's in it for me is the question I'd expect any prospective member to ask.

No matter how flowery the mission statement, all trade associations exist to help their members better compete in the marketplace. What's good for the membership might help the overall industry as well, but the focus has to be on benefits for those who join. The IICRCA is a little different in being both an association for individual firms and an association of associations, but the same rules apply to the associations.

So what' in it for me? I can't help steer if I'm not on the boat. I'll feel some satisfaction if the IICRCA earns a reputation as a "good guys" club, as an organization that produces industry leaders, as a melting pot for people and organizations to come together and do great things they couldn't do on their own. Working with creative people rubs off, so I'll be better for being part of this group.

OK Mickey, I'm busted........... it was a long day.
Bryan is right of course, a lot of good can come from many individuals working together in a common cause for the benefit of all the Bawb's out there.

So lets say some of us were certified and let our membership cancel or not renew! Do we have to get recertified? Sit in a class? or can we we just retest. Or just pay some dues and be like an honorary old dude who kicks arse?????

Seems like if your certified once the paying dues and being a member should be reinstated with out the course being retaken!
