Mike, That is incorrect

I brought this up recently with SM, I think their tech login is serious flawed for allowing this oversight...

Where I do have problem is, as a technician security role(lowest level), they have ability to make a new estimate and work order, then they can search for existing customer, at that point they have every customer profile at there fingertips, and can print screen with IPad.

This is a Big problem.

I Can Not imagine any Multi truck Operation that would want every lead technician complete access to their Entire database at anytime, at there discretion.

Is there a way fix this?

I guess they feel more multi truck companies want this than do not.

Will,
you can limit their access to a certain computer or ip address ?

And yes you could do confidentiality agreement, non-disclosure your techs sign, however nothing to stop them, that would all be after the fact....
For an old company i work for, a tech did this for years before leaving on his own.....

Don't want to hijack your thread and questions, but a lot of what you're asking for HouseCall Pro has. And it has a mobile app that your techs use that doesn't give them any access to the admin stuff.

A simple app for a techs phone might be really helpful. Room by room square footage would be cool. Something easy to deal with on the fly, with limited access for security purposes.

The mobile version is almost unusable on iPhone 6. Everything's way too small. I can't imagine it's much better on a slightly bigger phone.

iPad works well. I tether from my phone.

Jobber looked REALLY slick but I'd miss Fill My Schedule.

Hey Russ, give me a call and I can do a demo for you of our mobile app & web portal that does all of that and more. It's a native app so that means it's easy to read and specially designed.

Also we have postcards like Fill My Schedule, but just much cheaper ($0.65) that automatically go out that you can setup. Our's are a little simpler 4x6 full color heavy stock both sides, but at the price you can't beat it!

My number is 858-365-0850

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Mobile apps are designed to simplify tasks (games and stuff too), while making the most out of a tiny screen that fits in your pocket or on your belt.

In my opinion, the best ones can be used easily with one hand.

CC techs are pretty busy and have a lot to juggle sometimes.

My suggestion to SM is still to push for a more field user friendly experience on a smartphone (an app). The tablet experience is pretty good.

It's a pretty robust platform that is helping us grow, while not being totally overwhelmed in the process. Definitely not going to complain too much about something that we are having real success with.

But I'd love an iOS app. A snappy, simple one that will make my iPad optional when going to a job. Big buttons to make data entry SIMPLE and FAST.

IMO this is a big reason the CC Facebook pages are having so much success. It's because it's easy. It's the path of least resistance.

I'm really hoping than when Joe said "iPhone coming", this is what he meant. It's overdue.

Other companies are obviously ready to capitalize if any of us (me too) refuse to listen to what the customer wants.

I say these things because I know SM aims to please. They have been excellent to deal with for almost 2 years since we signed on.

Yeah this is exactly how we built the HouseCall Pro app. We spent over a year building and perfecting it and making it sync in real-time with the backend web portal.

Just realize that building a snappy responsive native mobile iOS or Android app on top of an older framework that's been around for a long time if very difficult... that's why it's really hard for SM to build it.

We are working in reverse, our iPhone app is very robust, integrated with 1.99% CC (FLAT - all cards), GPS tracking, auto text messaging + your own Customer booking application.

Our web portal is playing catchup since we've only been at it a couple months, but will have all of the same robustness and features as SM before the beginning of summer.

SM has a huge headstart and is definitely way more robust from the web portal standpoint.... but we are closing the gap FAST. (as well as an auto-importer from SM > HCP to make the transition seamless)

If it is actually breakthrough-able then .75 a piece might be cheap.

All marketing is way too expensive up until it works effectively, then it turns back into a small single digit cost.

With all that said I hate the marketing industry, I don't know of another industry that gets paid so high without Any quantifiable gaurentee or return of investment.

Roland,

Will your app/product export client names and info to quickbooks?

My issue..... We do most things on paper(omg), client pays they get a receipt/invoice and we get one. I take the copy home and enter everything in QB.... The problem is - I don't do it, so I end up with hundreds of invoices waiting to be put in.

Yup we have a Quickbooks integration... and also when you use HouseCall Pro it will automatically generate the invoices and then sync those over to your QB so you don't even have to enter them!

Are you using Quickbooks desktop or online?

I'm not a fan of the idea that techs can print our full database etc. that would be my issue if I'm reading correctly above that this is an issue with Service Monster.

SM has a lot of issues.. HCPro costs $20-$25 a month and no ridiculous set up fee like SM.. its a very similar program too but better.

How much is this monthly and is there a setup fee like SM?
It's $23/month for individuals (1 login), and $20/month/login for largers organizations.
No Setup Fee or Data transfer fee... sent you a PM with my cell

Will be calling. I like that compared to the $300 setup with SM. And $20 per employee is not bad especially if we designate a tech only log in and a manager login and only need 2 accounts. $40 a month? Sign me up.

Yea, the desk top version, it's old and I really only use it as a custy database to print labels for mailing.

Even though I'm very computer/internet/website savy, I really need to think about making this part of biz easier on the wife and I.

To give you heads up.. Intuit is going to be phasing out the desktop version soon and will be strictly cloud based. It all comes down to integration, having one piece of software sync up to others so you don't have to double entry. House Call Pro looks to be a good one, I haven't used them yet but I do like the marketing aspect of their software.

So if you have 4 techs and an office person it's ($23 each) per month?
