We use the Evolution wand. Have been for many years. It broke last week (we've had some really busy past few weeks and it's many years old). Waiting for the shipment of wands to arrive at Jon Don any day to replace it. The boys are crying like a bunch of girls ditched on prom night, having to use our old "traditional" wands. Can't wait to get it back on the truck again. We highly recommend it.

Actually wands are a personal preference. Everyone is different and what one tech thinks is great another may not. No right or wrong.....unless you're using an Evolution or a Bentley. :winky:

I may be crazy, but most of the time I use a 175 and then the rotovac 360xl and lastly the pmf ti wand with my butler.
It may be overkill but I do the same many times. I will prespray and red pad with my 360i just because it so quickly flattens out even the worst job, then 360i rinse followed by a very quick going over with an AW29 (the ti wand stays in the van 95% of the time unless it is needed for large areas).

I was having Elbow issues from using the Rx-20. Got the Ergo PC-Ti and 90% of my elbow issues went away in a month. took about 3 months for them to go completely away.

There is no clear answer to what works what doesn't.
Everybody will have different posture, different leg/arm/torso length.
Everyone will move differently favoring certain muscle groups.

Everyone will experience some sort of pain for not being able to truly adjust the wands and rotary extractors to their own body type and movement specifications.

This is a no win situation. Until someone comes up with a radically new way of rinsing carpets like we do with wands and REs.

I have to disagree with those that don't believe the zipper isn't easier on the body than the wand. Just for Marty I owned the zipper long before it was favored by this board. Nobody I've trained on the wand and zipper chose the wand. None have every cleaned before and instantly realized which was easier. If you use the zipper like a wand it will beat you up. Most of the work is done by walking back and forth. A small percent will have to be done with your arms. I can push it back and forth with two fingers. No way your gonna move my wand that way. My wife can run the zipper easily but she can't push the wand. It takes considerable more force to move my wand back and forth than the zipper. More force equals more work. Maybe if you have a small blower it doesn't matter.

I don't think it's a coincidence that my decades long back (herniated disk:frown:) and shoulder (bursitis:icon_neutral:) pains have been all but eliminated since I started using the 360i on the bulk of my jobs these last few years. You pretty much remove the repetitive motion trauma. I'll be sixty this month, and after 40 years of this work, essentially working by myself, instead of being broken down and pathetic, I work without pain or fatigue all day long:headbang:.
I want to hear more about how you use the 360I at household pressure..

I have no doubt it works, I'm just interested in how you increase the the other slivers of the pie ..

You aren't using the spray jets for anything other than flushing (about 1 gal/min from the tap vs about 1.8gal/min with a TM). The agitation and soil loosening comes from the metal swoop heads. I don't change anything because of reduced temps or pressure. It will take longer on some severely soiled situations, but on those I would use the TM unless time is not a consideration.

As mentioned, it's not about the weight of the wand. You will still have the same exact problem with a lightweight wand and to top it off: it won't even clean as well.
The repetitive motion of wanding and perhaps not good enough physical fitness is what kills you.
I'm 6' 4" and 193lbs, very active, ride motorcycles, this was caused when I worked for Fedex and someone hit me head on and totaled the van in 1991....

Then you're almost as big as me...so its about the tools not being the right size. I have a Greenhorn that Greenie made me with an extended tube. Its about 6-7" longer than normal. It helps but I'm still hitting up the chiropractic office a lot and also use an inverting table since 2003.
