Told me he had the carpets cleaned recently but wasn't at all happy with the job

i told him 18 cents sf for scrub and extract ....dead silence on the other end for 10-15 seconds

"oh, I'll get back to you"

I love that silence. It gives me the opportunity to end the conversation quickly.

It's the ones that keeps on talking on and on, even though we both know that they're not gonna do it, that drive me crazy.
I'd rather they just hung up :winky:

.18 cents is a fair price for that size and being a 1x job.

As saying goes, dont let a customer's problem become YOUR problem.

Too hard to say without seeing it but we would be between .12-.15 depending on several factors.

Soiling, accessibility, day or night availability for processing....how busy we are. ;)

4-man crew with three Cimex's will make fast work of it. Two HWE trucks can knock it out nearly as fast but its just a little harder work...at least until we get Zippered UP.

1500 sq/ft per hour @ .12 =$180.00
1500 sq/ft per hour @.15 =$225.00

Can you call him back? :winky:

He could.
But with that kind of client, it will have to be collect.
Good point.

If its a corporate client I'm "goodtago" but some banquet room at Patels hotel I'm going to be a bit worried about getting paid on time. I'm not racist...well no more than the average guy ;) but experience makes me cautious.

We lost a govt. job bid of 72,000 sq. ft. cleaned once a year when we bid .12c / sq. ft. Lowest I could go. It got awarded to some guy that bid .7c / sq. ft. Yea, no thanks. Let them have it then.

Don't worry Will he is going to be working on a very thin margin. He will make some money provided there are no issues but "Is the juice worth the squeeze?"

I heard that a certain theme park had millions of sq/ft cleaned for under 3-cents a square foot. You'd have to really be humping to make a little coin at 3-cents. You could use the equipment we use, it would need to be high production.

They probably have a lot of "dead" space too. Tricky part about commercial, often we are only cleaning 50% of the sqr ft.
