Any kind of limiting I believe will also limit the amount being donated

no way. you have a better chance of winning something because you're assured some swinging dik..hed won't be able to grab all the goods.

Yes. You couldn't be more right. Mikey and the contributors stepped up big time as did the ticket buyers. Even further, I would argue that the Experience would have been less than great if weren't for the Mikey crew, Sapphire and small handful of others.

The point of the post isn't to poo poo his or anyone else's efforts. It's to try and figure out if there might be an alternative to the raffle format that could lead to a broader range of winners and larger amount of money raised.

First Mikey and all the folks who donated and worked their collective asses should be given a huge THANK YOU! I can't say thank you enough to everyone who gave back. Without efforts like these to raise funds for these groups many more good, deserving pups wouldn't have a chance. Barry Costa raised hundreds for Leukemia by getting donations for a picture with the show girls. It was also pretty cool that a young cleaner from Bulgaria who purchase just 10 tickets won a beautiful $800.00 wand. If you want a better chance start giving back; it's called karma. Thanks again Mikey and to everyone who participated.

i do a lots of very large raffles for fun raisers here in jax..and i am a raffle junkey in general lol

if your wanting to raise the most amount of money the way your doing it is the only way..a direct chosen raffle is the only way yo maximize your donations

a auction will be a disaster, a silent auction will be even worse..we raise on average 23k for local families in need here in jax and are well known for the size of our raffles

you are doing it exactly how it should be done to raise the most money..i will buy 1k in tickets to spread them out but will not bid 1k on any single item..trust me if you change the raffle it will bring in less than 1/2 of what
you do now at best..

How true Dave. I know you are someone who truly cares and gives back without the idea of what's in it for me. Not everyone thinks in those terms. It's interesting that as business people we probably understand better than most the role of incentive. Limiting or removing the reward for giving or sacrificing more eliminates the incentive to do so. Never limit incentive; unless you feel it's for the greater good..... comrade.

Another option - A silent auction. This could run all day during the trade show. Sheets to bid for the prizes could be at each distibutors booth so folks would be going around to different booths to make bids and check on bids. Some vendors feel the auction killed the last 30 minutes or so of trade show sales. A 3 hour auction will kill a lot of the trade show.

You should leave it as a raffle, maybe adjust the ticket prices for the more lucrative prizes

This system will net the most money for the shelter, which is what the objective should be anyways

As for the waste of time, I don't think a half hour to an hour is too much to ask to acknowledge all the vendors that donated merchandise for the cause

Like Dave G mentioned, just write a check for $1000 and watch how much stuff you walk away with

With those odds , you'd have to be extremely unlucky to not come away a big winner

I donated a couple hundred and walked away a loser. Of course I began that way, so fuk it, no harm no foul.
