Bad Tape residue!!

i need some help. Commercial setting had walk in mat/rug and had it taped down with something for like 2 years and removed the mat and has horrible black sticky residue left.... Problem is its not accessible with the truckmount... Sooo I need some advice on what to do? I have a brush pro and cimex machine..

Is the carpet nylon or Olefin?
A dry applied on a towel and scrubbed may work well and will not leave a residue.
Delimonene (the orange smelling solvent) work well, yet needs a very good rinse and tend to bond with Olefin.

All solvents if applied too generously and directly to carpet may cause delamination (dissolve the carpet's glue, causing a separation of primary and secondary backing or potentially damage the glue layer of a direct glue.) So always advisable to apply through towel, which is safer yet time consuming.

A good detergent prespray, as a rinse, followed by a good scrubbing (absorbing) repeated a few times is likely to work well.

After you do as described.
Prespray with encapsulating product.
Follow with your Brush Pro after the prespray with encap, or with your Cymex with a bonnet.
It will act as a rinse and flushing.

My suggestion is to use a solvent to clean the residue, then Releasit Punch to clean the solvent. Do the solvent cleaning on your hands and knees, so you can inspect the fiber closely as you go.

Otherwise you'll simply clean the dirt off the residue and get a nice callback in two weeks when it all "comes back."

My suggestion is to advise them there is no guarantee they won't have a "possible" recurring soil problem after weeks/months of traffic .
tape residue (GLUE) has been trampled to the backing by years of traffic .

Advise them of such, and their problem won't become your problem a month or two from now

You need to get some Hel-Gel from Vacaway.com. It's an awesome encapsulating spotter that you can use in conjunction with encap cleaning. It gets tape residue out.

Nothing against everyone else but you need to read Larry post and inform the customer that it WILL RESOIL EVEN IF YOU CLEAN IT WITH THE BEST TRUCKMOUNT.

if you dont have the equipment to do this job why not refer it to someone else or tell them they need that carpet repaired as the damage is too great to clean and have it look good without the high risk of delamination

time to get out your gum gel and your spot bot.

Rent a porty at home depot for rinsing. this will help with any delamination. Apply agitate rinse. Apply agitate rinse. Apply agitate rinse. And then repeat.

You will need to at least get a portable or a spotter to get the adhesive off because that's going to require a solvent. But.... Adhesive Residue removal using Pro's Choice Pro Solve (Solvent), Power Gel and ARA

PROCEDURE:

1. Wet contaminated fibers with Gooff.
2. Agitate gently but thoroughly to dissolve contamination.
3. Allow dwell time (usually one to two minutes).
4. Apply Power Gel to contaminated fibers.
5. Again, agitate gently but thoroughly to emulsify dissolved contamination.
6. Very thoroughly rinse area.
7. Apply ARA to prevent re-soiling.
