Sounds like it needs lube or maybe a bearing is shot. Anyone experience this?

It will be a 1.5-2 million dollar effort to set up a production line in the US for these things.
yeah, sorry yes i would pay $75 more for a better built fan.
and as for manufacturing them in america, that could easily be done.
A. they are simple to make (i bet the molds for the plastic were made in america)
B. There aren't that many parts to the fan, so easy assembly
C. They are put together with rivets because it keeps us from fixing them, so we keep buying.
D. you would be surprised at how cheap those fans are made and what they make on each one of them.
Oh I do agree, the 4 screws that hold the fan implace could be a little tighter. The four I've opened up some screws fell out, when I've tighened and replaced screws on my original fans, they have'nt had a problem since.
Who evers building these things needs a little more torque on the screw.
PS I just bought 3 more for $135 each. if your gonna get them wait for a sale!
btw. i have a manufacturing back ground of 13+ years, and have family who own plastic and machine shops. i know what im talking about.
look at it this way.
a snale fan that has a bigger motor, a more complex mold, and still has metal grates and a metal/plastic squirrel cage is still $10 cheaper
Who's selling for $135?
John Olson" data-source="post: 4401051" class="bbCodeBlock bbCodeBlock--expandable bbCodeBlock--quote js-expandWatch">The cost isn't in how much it will cost to build them but the cost to set up the production line. You said your family is in the production business ask them how much it would cost them to set up a line to build these. There isn't some magic fairies magically building things. I am sure if Bill thought he could build them here in the states he would.
If someone is selling these for $135 buy them that's less then cost after shipping and inventory and handling etc etc.. Someone must have been scared and had to clear them out. Only way for a dealer to make anything on these is to buy them by the pallet so I have to assume they got scared as we all pay the same by the pallet and I couldn't sell them at a loss.
