im supposed to pull the bypass orifice monthly. I only pulled it a couple times on my previous machine, all near the end. I had the magnet and although many don't believe they work the proof is in the pudding as they say. So today the machine shut down because it hit 280. I had to keep the bypass open to keep it from spiking but it was the easiest solution. I popped the nut off and tried to get the orifice out. No chance. Frozen so bad the the Allen wrench was twisting. Not a cheap piece of junk either. Nice tight fit and yep, I turned it hard enough to strip the little bolt. Didn't have a wire with me small enough to clear it. After a 12 hr day I'm to spent to get out the extractor.
Moral, don't wait until 800 hrs to pull the orifice out it will be frozen solid.

i have more than a dozen different type of extractors, one will fit. i was just to tired to bother. i will need a new one and i doubt my supplier has a ,037 green orifice. i don't really want to put it back in.

Especially stainless bolts. They need anti seize applied to them. I use it wherever I can. I like to replace the bolts on my machine with hardened #8 yellow zinc or better when ever possible too.

Always helps when you have the proper tools to do the job. I have found with Allen Wrenches it is best to invest in a set of allen sockets that will adapt to your 3/8th ratchet You only get a couple chances before it will strip with all this cheap hardware companies use nowadays.

Got mine from my father n law, he was a retired mill wright.

800 hours now? Should be a good year!

798 to be exact. we clean year round. install date was 6-22-15.

They come in different hole sizes. mine is a green .037. my supplier had 2 other sizes that were smaller.

Well, I've got under 50 hours on mine and tried to remove the orifice with no success. Found a video on the Sapphire youtube channel on this very subject and I could swear just when the guy is bearing down on his handy dandy allen wrench set the video skips ahead leaving out some frames. And I'm juuuust guessing its the frames they don't want to show us... Meaning it doesn't just thread right out with ease. Now throw some heated water in the system and you've got a stuck little treaded POS that is supposed to be checked once per month.

I remember The first time I broke it loose on my last machine. The Allen was completely torqued and then it popped loose. I'll get it out with the extractor,or drill it and then extract. Either way it's coming out. Simple challenge.

I just hit 100 hours on the Rage. I think I'll take it to the local shop and let them break it loose.
