I just tried what you did in the vid on a soapy foamy spot and it worked instantly !! That powdered defoamer is awesome !! Thanks for the tip
I always made it into a liquid then applied it, the powder directly on the spot was way faster!

Well I used that powdered defoamer today for the 1st time, seemed to work pretty good, just sprinkled it around on there carpet, just trying to gauge how much to use, use it sparingly in 1st room, still some foam in tank, used a little more in second room and was better, then a little more in 3rd room and all was well, It was "Premier" brand powdered defoamer. This persons carpets had dog pee, poop, blood, puke all over it, and the worst part was that this guy did nothing at all to try and clean it for a Year, yes thats right a whole year, I cleaned the house across the street and they told me about his carpet and dog problems. here are some before and after pics

here's the last two--I only used one product to clean this with--"Releasit Encap-Hydrox" I mixed in my Mytee battery sprayer, sprayed it on and gave about ten min dwell time, Then mixed more and put it in my 175 with solution tank and carpet brush so applied more and agitated (did not have to put that much more down) then using my mytee ltd5 extractor and hot turbo heater ran just plain water in my solution tank, and did a rinse sand extract. And there you have it. And yes a little plug for how good Ricks product worked.

Liquid de-foamer is mostly useful for de-foaming your waste tank.
Powdered de-foamer is better at de-foaming your vacuum hose because of suds in the carpet.

Foam only has one way to get into your waste tank, and thats thru your vac hose, so if you eliminate it in your vac hose there will be none in the waste tank, so after using the powder today for the 1st time ever by sprinkling it on the carpet just before my rinse and extract works, which it did, I think this will be my new way to "kill the foam" kill it before it gets to the children, sorry i meant waste tank, lol
