I put my unit in a Volkswagen Transporter Van. My full size Ford was 6'8 1/2". A lot of the underground parking lots around here are from 6'6" to 6'8". The Volkswagen is just under 6'4", is a one ton and has a small diesel engine. So I lose a little space but I can park anywhere in downtown Vancouver and my fuel bill is less than half what it used to be.

Is it T4 or T5?

I love those vans with a 2.5 tdi....man they are awesome. Too bad they are not being sold here.
In Europe we had those Transporters and Caravelle vans. Great vehicles.

It's the t4 without the turbo. 77hp, gets you around the city but when going up long hills, you pull in behind the cement trucks and put your 4-ways on. There is a petition somewhere online that you can sign to bring them back to North America. The turbo diesel would be awesome. Imagine putting a small diesel tm in there. No need for separate fuel tank.

Yeah, now I see your avatar. We had one with the regular 2.4L diesel...oh my that was slooow....... Compared to the newer T4 T5 tdi speedsters. Those things drive like a car and easily stay in the fast lane on any freeway. (In Europe! Where the speeds are much higher)
We also had the T3 with the 2.0 gas engine that was still in the rear 1985 (it was still the shared Porsche design. It had the Porsche emblems stamped on it) but it was also slow...

they sell them in Australia/Mexico, all over Europe, I saw them in the Bahamas. What's wrong with us? Trying to protect the North American auto industry but depriving us of fuel efficient, less polluting, small heavy duty workhorses. Even Ford switching to the European Models, in the UK they have a Transit van that is one ton, moderately long wheel base and is 6'5"tall. Why don't they bring/make that model here. The closest we have is the Dodge Promaster City. It is not a one ton and short wheel base. You might get a ss 370 or similar in it with no room for anything else. In the suburbs you can go as big as you want, in the city, parking is your biggest concern. Anyone from NYC, Chigago, Detroit, LA, San Fran with similar issues. What is your average parking height? Ok, I'm done with my rant for the day.
