Hi all, new to the forum. I have been researching different portables and am currently looking at the Namco Scooter Jr. I was wondering if anyone has owned this portable and what the pros and cons are? I would be using it for occupied residential. Any advise appreciated. Thanks!

I have 2 namco truckmounts but have upgraded them over the last few years.....
I have looked at the namco portables that are good portables.....
If you are gonna be a serious cleaner you have to get a truckmount.....
If you are just gonna be par time buy a used portable...easy to find and relatively easy to fix...
Also you can find a used truckmount for around 5000$
Go each a carpet cleaner demo a portable or a truckmount and see what you think....

If you want to clean with the speed and power of a truckmount without the overhead, then the Dwell1 by Dwell Pro Inc. is the way to go. Namco is low pressure and you need to fill/empty it. The Dwell1 has 1500psi for tile cleaning. Dual 6.6 Vac motors are far superior to most any machine in the industry. Their bearings are not in the air path leaving them virtually industructable. Run a 15" Zipperwand w/9 flow and not worry about dry time.

Mikey nailed it. Dwell Pro would be a better choice.

Back in the 90's I bought 2 Namco Scooters for my commercial carpet cleaning biz. Thought they'd be the bomb. Turns out I really disliked the Namco. It was frustrating to work with. :hopeless:

A good portable like the Dwell Pro, TruckPort, or other upper end porty would be my personal recommendation over the Namco Scooter.

Portables have made a huge leap forward by increasing CFM and higher quality components / pressure pumps.
Choose a portable that will fit your service menu.....meaning if your going to offer "tile & grout" cleaning along with carpet and upholstery then make sure to buy a portable that has adjustable pressure from 100-1000psi
And since the pump it the heart of the portable make sure it has a "high quality" pump and vac motor.
Without a doubt after you work with a portable any length of time you WILL want to purchase a truckmount.....faster set up.....better dry times....high heat for greasy jobs ect. However, if all of your work is going to be commercial high rises then a portable is the best option.
Check out the " New & Improved" Sapphire Scientific "Versaclean Portable" line.
Full range of portables to choose from 200 with or wo/ heat up to adjustable " high pressure " for tile & grout cleaning with the best high pressure pump on the market using a " General Emporior" pressure washer pump and 6.6 Ametec vac motor with 140 CFM. See the line up at www.sapphirescientific.com and look under "Extractors"

I used a Scooter Jr when i first started in carpet cleaning in the Atlanta market. For hi rise rentals, there is absolutely no faster way that I found to knock out many units a day. I loved that thing.
