We had a rather large job yesterday. A big house to clean and do some repairs in.
We had a 12x6 master closet to re pad and re install and another mid size patch. I set Shilo up and had him pad the closet. It was odd shaped and it took Mr. Perfectionist a while lol! But it was perfect!

While he did that, I worked on the patch. What should've been a simple patch was a PITA because the only spare carpet was an oddly shaped cut up piece that had been crumpled up in the corner of the basement. So the backing was broken and delaminated pretty bad and I had to fix that before I could even do the insert. I also had to glue a few doorway seams that were delaminating and separating throughout.

Then came the fun part....I had to pre treat the back side of the carpet that was going back into the closet. It should've been replaced but they just couldn't do it. Then I had to knee kick it all over as it too was loose and delaminating. I would've had Shilo do it, but I was training him and wanted him to see before doing a job that was not just a simple square room. Of course I forgot to take an after pic of the closet but it came out great.
Then we had to treat the whole house with OSR in the prespray as the black light lit up everywhere. We wanded this house because the carpet was too worn at the seams and thin and loose but it came out great and the homeowner was thrilled. She had sticker shock at the price in the beginning but when we were done she understood why and even gave us a tip.
But , I have learned that my knee kicking days are over! I'm feeling it today!

I've thought about getting that, would love to have it for sure, but it's pretty darn expensive. I've been looking at that for a few years now dreaming about getting one lol...
As well as the Tri-Force. Oh how easy life would be with those!
Someday I will manage it!

That day after feeling your body has after a stretch gets worse as you age.

Have you ever tried Pro Knee knee pads?

http://proknee.com

It takes a little while to get used to them but once you do, they are indispensable for doing this type of work. Anytime I have to do any repairs or spot dye work, I have to have them or I ache all over ten times worse the next day...

Oh, knee kickers.
Approved by all the surgeons, as the #1 business increasing tool. Voted: "Most likely to enable and faster, their second beach property in Aruba."

Curiosity question: Why do most carpet installers start limping in their late twenties?

Ugh...I hate knee pads! My knees never hurt after these jobs, it's mostly my back. But I should probably get some for Shilo and save him while he is young!

Yep. Leave that knee pad and kicker alone. From your past reports it seems like it's pretty much the only joint you still have intact :winky:

And yes, do that for Shilo. Not damaging our bodies as you know so well, is taking care of our most important tool and future.

My brother switched to painting then. Has two new hips now at 55.

Ugh...had a guy who was going to trade me a stair tool for a Tri-Force and he seems to have changed his mind. Anyone got one for sale? Lol!

Thank you Rick!
It was a dog. I guess they got a cat and the dog went nuts and starting peeing everywhere. I'm not buying it though. I think she was embarrassed. I told her I have 5 Cheewawas and if I had carpet in my house it would look like that too just to ease her mind.
Obviously I had to tell her I could not guarantee anything since the dog and cat are still in the home and she lets the dog roam around unsupervised all day...

Kneepads suck. I have pants that I can slip kneepads into and they are the most comfortable solution I have ever seen. If anyone would like to know more about them just let me know. I can just have them in all the time and it doesn't look bad or weird in the pants. Then if I ever need to get down on my hands and knees to do a repair or scrub a spot, etc... no problem.

I have those! I think they are Carharts. Those are bearable. I forgot I had them lol....gotta dig them out and see if they still fit. I've lost 20 lbs.

I took a repair class years ago and decided I needed to get paid a lot more to be down on my knees. I'm impressed with your hard work. I just give out my old faithful Carpet repair guys # and he returns the favor to me. You probably win customers for life doing that so good on you, especially if you like doing it.

Thank you Scott! I actually do a lot of repairs for other cleaners. I always offer to teach them but most just don't want to do it.
What's nice about repairs is you get a call for a small repair and then they find out all of your other services and bam...new customer! It's a way in...
I'm going to get one of those tri-force stretchers and hopefully that kneeless kicker to make it easier but until then I am able to keep going with what I've got, especially with Shilo's help. He will learn very fast.

The down side of me doing carpet repairs is that my pops is a flooring inspector... I'd have to restretch with a power stretcher each and every time, without cutting corners... The Behr Claw, The Gundlach 737 Stretcher Hook, The Restretcher, The Carpet Frog, The Tri-Force, The Air Stretcher, all of them I wouldn't be able to use due to the fact I'd have to actually do it right or not at all...

Plus I love my knee's and being on them all day isn't my idea of work.....
