Would you help and sit behind the wheel?

Long very narrow drive uphill right by the ocean. I was doing a house up there. There is not enough room to turn around so I would have to back down all the way.

While I was talking to my customer and collected the check etc....this old lady drove up the drive and attempted to turn around.

She got herself stuck solid between the two fences. Hard to imagine how a car can get stuck so bad. The picture does not show it right because you can't see the curvature of the wall.

Anyways she was mad at the world and told me she can't get out... And I should try it.

WOULD YOU HAVE SIT IN THE CAR AND TRIED?

I looked at it and both ends were already getting jacked up and the only way it was going to come out was to have more damage to the rear, by pushing the fence and little tree.

I immediately told her I won't touch it. She needs to do it. I said I won't be taking phone calls later when her husband calls to ask for reimbursement on the damage I caused to the car. (if I tried getting it out)

She ended up crushing the rear bumper to get the front end loose. And basically ripped the bumper off because it was set/hung up on the curb.

I saw an elderly woman turn her car around between the pumps. It took about 20-30 times but she finally made it. She wanted to go out the way she came in and it didn't occur to her to just drive straight and make a left or right turn. She must of be on less medication then yours. And no, I wouldn't of helped in this case.

I'd just ask Jerick elf to pick up the back end and swing it 'round.

He's a pretty big ol' boy.

I would have coached her out letting her know there will be damage no matter what at this point..

I coached an old bag out of snow this year.. She actually got an attitude when I told her she needs to back up and keep her tires straight. One attempt and she was out..

Yes I coached her through the ordeal... And explained it a few times why she needs to turn the wheel and when and which way etc.

I'm just wondering if anyone would've set in there and tried it....

I would NEVER have sat in the car..

I was snow plowing last year and I backed up into a road that was 25mph, this girl was doing like 35-40, so I threw it in drive and stomped on it. She decided that the ditch was a better choice..:hopeless: Now I feel bad she was like 16years old and I told her she was driving way too fast, she agreed..
I could tell her heart was pounding and she would never forget this, so I pulled her out with a chain.. She tried to offer me like $3:eekk: , I said don't worry about it just slow the f down..

Most of them drive like maniacs these days. Unless you're behind them in a hurry.

I cant say if I wouldve sat in the car or not. I may have if I felt it was a better option than waiting an hour or if I thought I couldve done it without damage.

I would be concerned about liability for giving her directions too. I have used floor jacks to get cars in and out of tight spots.

I did manage to get my van stuck in the garage once since I cram it into the side to leave my wife more room. I had to use floor jacks to get it out.
