Realtor wants a light cleaning

People that are not invested in the property can be cheap. They just don't care, with no emotional ties it means nothing to them.
We had a large water loss in a downtown office building. Done correctly it would have been 6-8k. They only wanted to spend $1,000.00 then when their time was up, some of the renters complained and they bought another $500.00.
We completed the time and there was still 5 rooms wet, hours and hours of moving filing cabinets and wet lower drywall & insulation. We showed the management company what still needed to be processed and they signed off acknowledging it and stating they would address it.
Two guys and two wet vac's. Good luck!

Sometimes the management company knows the carpet is done but they have to clean it anyway so they can prove that they tried to save it.

Next time he asks for a light cleaning, I'm just going to clean the light.
Cheap ass Realters talk to us in their language. "Light Cleaning" means "my fat wallet is gonna stay fat"

"...a light cleaning" probably meant they wanted a cheap job.
This is an example of the manipulative type of things people say to take advantage of good and caring cleaners
In my experience, people will make all sorts of statements assuring you that a less than perfect job is ok due to cost or circumstances, but then will complain that it's not good enough later.
I could be all wrong of course; I don't know the person. It's just that a long lifetime in this business and in this world has taught me to be wary ..ok downright suspicious and untrusting....of people who use ambiguous terms to gain their ends

I tried the package deal thing about 6 years ago. I wasted $over $75 on printing the brochures. I never sold one package. My customers hated having to decide what they thought they needed.
We're the professionals, we should tell the customers what is needed to make it looking presentable

Kinda funny - I'm kinda having the opposite situation right now. A new property manager took over a large apartment complex. They are doing small renovations/upgrades on all of the apartments, but for the most part keeping the same carpet. Now the previous property manager required the renters to have their carpet professionally cleaned before they left or they would lose their deposits. The new manager wants to be able to tell all new tenants that the carpet has been freshly cleaned. So I'm cleaning 'clean' carpet at this place. Its easy, but it gets pretty boring when there is not even any spots to clean out. One of the apartments I went into I could still see the grooming marks in the carpet from the last guy.
I've never heard of a property manager doing that. Normally, when a new manager or company takes over, they'll inspect each one, and kick out the scums to do a major remodel/detail. The good ones stay grandfathered in and they just milk off the reliable rent payments

This is common in Florida because the Seasonal Owners want the carpets cleaned before they get there and after they leave. It isn't dirty either time but they worry about dust or mold they can't see. I love those jobs...good money, easy work and they usually have an amazing view. :-)

So after paying me $200.00 to clean the carpets, he calls me today to ask for a referral to a carpet retailer to replace them. I told him ahead of time that it was a waste of time and money but he insisted. I really don't care, I got $200.00 for 2 hrs. work. Not my best rate but I didn't lose anything. I just wish they would take my advice the first time around.

Ok with that said cleaning clean carpets, a customer calls and is moving into a new place they want it cleaned for peace of mind.
You realize upon arrival you cleaned it a couple weeks earlier for the seller or tenant.
Do you tell the new prospective client or not????

Sam I know the question wasn't towards me, but I've tried to talk people out of it if it didn't need done, usually on a move-in.
They always seem to want it done anyhow. Something about knowing the "other guy's cooties" are gone.

I had a lady walk me throught her house. As we walked past a room in the same condition she said we weren't cleaning that one because it wasn't dirty yet. everybodys idea of clean is just different.

Whatever the price the work needs to be exceptional...being excellent is a habit. I think that is the definition of connoisseur....something like that. If I accept the job then there is no such thing as a cheaper or light cleaning. Your reputation ... reputation is another word for brand... must be protected; it is the most valuable asset in your business.
