I bet the old guy knows more about coiling hose than those young whippersnappers like Matt W. who only know how to use an electric hose reel.
Hey Grandpa, I used a manual reel for 14years before I broke down and went electric.

The newer cool cuffs 2.5 lock, after 2 years the threading doesn't grab as well.

They also don't leak, after a few years they probably need replacing.

But I have only one 2.5 50 foot hose split in two so really two 25 footers and they go on the real last.

Mine do come apart once a month when I don't lock them. I don't have a auto real that whips me good.

I like Joes 2 inch reducer to 1.5 I use a small whip for my stair tool helps when you pipe the bull nose.

No reels allowed Matt, electric or otherwise. You coil the hose and hang it up neatly.
My first two years in this business...My cheap ass boss didn't have hose reels. Give me an hour to warm up before I make the trip up to Nashville, and It'll feel like yesterday when I was rolling up my hoses for $8/hr.

My anger from being a miserable CC employee in my late teen years will give me the energy to win that contest blindfolded, lol

That's why, last year, I bought my electric hose reel. The combination of the memories of manually rolling up the hoses, and the recent pain in the top of my hand while I was rolling my vac hose up, gave me a good excuse to spend the cash on that lovely reel with the big black button

I was running cool cuffs long before most people. Ran them for years. When I went to 2.5" hose a few years back, and my supplier ditched Joe, i switched over to flash cuffs. Here is what I like and dont like.

Flash Cuffs Pros: the lock feature is awesome. Smart idea

Flash Cuff Cons:

1. Break super easy in cold weather. I have a box of them that are broken.

2. They leak air pretty bad. I cant handle that. I even replaced the orings with thicker ones to help. Still leak

3. They wont fit through coded railing uprights. Meaning if your cleaning a condo and want to go through the handrail, you are unscrewing the cuff on 2.5"

4. They break easy, did I mention that?

Cool Cuff Pros:

1. Slimmer design
2. Dont leak much
3. Are more durable

Cool Cuff Cons
1. The brass clip is gone on 2.5 and the twist lock will come undone
2. Joe, some guys have issues with him I never have.

I only run cool cuffs now, because they are the best cuff and industry .

With leakage it not the airflow loss it's the loss of lift.

Your V an AT won't see a difference I doubt the 370 sit at 14 with a wand on the carpet.

Totally disagree. They will break in cold weather just clipping them. I ran them through 4-5 winters in North Idaho. I dont abuse my stuff.

Why would I accept a leaking cuff when I can have one that doesn't? I want airflow and I want as much of it as I can get down the wand. I can tell a difference in recovery.

I have made my own cuffs, for my 2.0 hose, they are way overkill but I wanted to see if a true sealed cuff that leaks no air would make a difference, it actually does make a bit of a noticable difference. In most cases a regular barb connection is more than enough airflow when a wand is on the carpet, the problem with barbs is.....well everything, except they don't leak air.
Everybody is doing all these upgrades with 2.5 42door and filters that leak only to give it all back because they have leaks all the way down there hose run.
I gooped my Flash cuffs to the hose and they don't leak but maybe just a tiny bit.
I ordered some other 2.0 cuffs to try and they leaked really really bad, so much I took them off and made my own.

To the guys who's Mytee Cuffs leak, How old are they? The reason I ask, is because I had leakage problems with them about 3 or 4 years ago. Then I bought a set about a year ago, and they're totally better. They snug up better when you twist them closed and there's not any leaks. If they're not that old, maybe you bought some that were sitting on the shelf for several years.

The only other difference that might be is I bought mine directly from Mytee. Marty said that he got his from his dealer.
