We all have different ways to define how successful we are as carpet cleaners and businessmen. I have one customer who has sold her house and is downsizing to a condo. I have been cleaning carpets in that house since 1990. I was first sent to that house as a subcontractor to repair damage that an employee of a local department store, had done to a white wool carpet. I couldn't get it 100% back to what it was but the lady was so impressed with the effort, she kept me on as the regular carpet cleaner. She sold the house a few years later but left a letter and my business card for the new owner. I have been cleaning for the new owner for 20 years. The new owner is going to do the same and we'll see if I continue as the carpet cleaner. I will never be the successful businessman but to me success is the fact that customers go the extra mile to keep me on and recommend me to friends and relative.
