I do ALOT of work for a local company lately.... Like 1/3 of my jobs..... Anywho, one of the management, has asked me about fuel fired heat for their husbands pressure washing company...... I need to suggest something that is hot, high flow, for his pressure washing setup..... As I do not know the flow, or system he uses, what are a few different ideas?

Dude....be upfront and let them know it's not your specialty.


You don't want to be held accountable if they don't like it or have issues based on your recommendation.....that came from other people.


You'll gain much more credibility and respect from them if you don't recommend. If you feel compelled to help, tell them you will reach out your contacts out and get back to them with names and numbers of people that have the knowledge and experience. Let them call those people.

Then it's on those people as what they choose if it back fireds Cause YOU didn't make the recommendations. The "experts" you out them in touch with, did. You can bow out gracefully if it goes bad.....and bask in th glory if they are thrilled that you "helped" them.

Hotsey, they make the industry best. We've owned and used their smaller stuff for decades. High flow, super hot but very safe. Built to last!

I'm no expert but... I got to know this company pretty well when they were still privately owned by Larry Linton. Now another Karcher Group Company Landa Pressure Washers. http://www.landa.com Obviously Chavez would know more than I do about this. Even if I didn't help... I feel better ! OK Not really.

That's what I told her..... But when I'm in a job, and she shows up, sees steam coming out of my wand( no, not like that)..... She says, ' you do a better job than the last 3-4 guys who worked for us'.... I tend to offed a little to much info to these type of people..... Overcompensating I guess......

Actually we've only owned Hotsey. I'm sure there are plenty of other great brands.

We used to pressure wash after fires but haven't in quite some time. That work goes pretty cheap and just isn't worth the hassle.

We have had a Hotsey that is built into one of our garages. It is setup with remote on/off controls inside and outside with swivel booms to keep hoses out of the way. Its run flawlessly for nearly 30 years with regular maintenance.

Makes keeping vehicles clean fast and easy.

The NorthStars are great but they need 120 electric to run the igniter.

Landa's and Hotsy's are top of the line.

They are mostly combo units that come with a small generator head for firing the burner and the combo units are a lot more versatile than a separate burner.

Forget about a Little Giant.

That's because you are using it on a carpet cleaning machine. Those burners are designed for much more flow that we need for carpet cleaning. That unit is probably 350,000 btu's. Fuel fired carpet cleaning units are usually only 180,000-220,000 btu's.

That is not the fault of the burner at all.

Those things are BEAST.

Been using the NorthStar for about 5 years.

Has been very reliable. The only thing I have had to replace is the igniter. $50.00 part.

I use one every day. Just downsize the fuel jets for carpet cleaning. If her husband mostly does concrete, driveways, etc theres no benefit accept for gum, tar etc. But anything you can dig into and leave lines like decks heat is amazing. I plug a garden hose right into my flow switch and full the kids pool. I call this the hillbilly hot tub.

and if it's just a heater is needed don't forget http://www.farleysinc.com/ Unfortunately there's no inexpensive pressure washer heaters for the home shop. Northern Tool is probably going to be the least expensive route but you get what you pay for in a lasting tool. Diesel fired is going to require maintenance that the home guy will be in over his head. Propane fired quality is going to cost $2,500+ delivered. Fairly expensive rainy day tool to have at home....

This guy has THE contract for a local trucking company...... Almost 500 tractor & trailer combos.... 25% are B train..... I guess it's the holy grail if you're a pressure washing dude...... He does them 4 days a week....... 10 hr days.....

There used to be many pressure wash outfits here. One huge that had most of the big contracts. Once they implemented that recovery of the waste was was required they all dried up.

Well now with Trump killing the EPA we can all dump our waste water in the street again.

Who knows what his friends are dumping in our rivers and water ways to make him want to do away with the agency.

Although I believe we need to be responsible for our pollution, it makes no sense to restrict Tm's from dumping (as long you filter your lint and debris) but allow people to wash their cars in the street or powerwash their driveways with all of those oils going into our waterways.
